| Burned rubber urine smell My 9 month old male yorkie's urine smells like burned rubber. It is so strong, and he seems to be marking in the house (he is not neutered). He seems otherwise very healthy. We also have a 10 month old female yorkie who has not yet come into heat. I thought perhaps it was just a hormone odor from him not being neutered and in the house with a female (we thought we might breed them next year). He has also been a bit aggressive and barks, chases, and nips at kids who come into the house. We are attempting to collect his urine today and take a sample to the vet, because this odor is horrific. As it drips a bit onto his fur as he pees, it ends up making him smell horrible too, requiring very frequent bathing, and now his marking is making my carpet smell. HELP! We'll take his urine to the vet today, (this has been going on for a couple of months at least). But has anyone experienced this odor, and what industrial strength enzymatic product is the best for getting out this widespread odor from our carpets? Thanks so much. |

| I'm sorry this is happening to your home but my advice is to get him neutered, and her spayed. Why haven't you neutered or spayed either of them yet? Are you thinking of breeding? If so, by reading your post it shows you don't have enough experience with Yorkies to be breeding them. If that is your plan you need a mentor and to study the Yorskire Terrier breed for a while and learn more. Then only breed for the betterment of the breed. Natures Miracle works and they have a super strength one for strong urine.

| It's a good thing you took a sample to the vet for testing, but I suspect the smell, marking and behavior are from not being neutered. I'd advise you to rethink leaving him intact and breeding him. Males don't reach full sexual maturity until age 2 so his behavior will get even worse, especially if he is allowed to breed. Stud males are like teenage boys, always worried about sex. They can smell a female in heat miles away and will go crazy trying to get to her. Spayed and neutered dogs make the best pets. |
