| Poop & Food... Tried to find the answer myself. Okay, so, Rudy is about 5 1/2 months and is 2.8 pounds. I've been feeding her Wellness puppy since I got her at around 12 weeks old. She loves the food (but I think she will eat anything). She and Rex both eat twice a day, morning and afternoon. (Rex is 3 1/2 years and is trained) She potties outside and does well at going. The only problem we are having is that she will poop in her crate at night. Even after she potties before bedtime. I've tried reducing her intake at night and increasing her intake in the morning to even it out. So, I guess my question is, has anyone else experienced this or somthing similar with feeding Wellness puppy? Any suggestions on possibly changing her food? And, yes, I decreased her crate size so she doesn't have a lot of extra room and she still finds a corner to go in and will sleep in the other corner. Any opinions are welcome!!! Thanks!

| My memory isn't the best in the world, but it seems like I read on here that someone said their yorkie pooped more on Wellness than on other brands. I may be remembering wrong. But I'm pretty sure I have read that in the health and food section. I have no experience with Wellness. Mine wouldn't eat it.

(people always laugh when they find out his name is Rex, they say that name is more fitting for a big dog)

| what time is his last potty break before bed? I have found that even with a 5pm feeding and potty shortly after he still needs a late night no earlier then 10pm potty. Of course he gets an 8 pm potty break too... |

| I feed them their dinner at 6pm. I take them out about every hour and then once again right before they are crated for the night. They went to bed about 11:00pm last night. I wake them up at 7:00am. She doesn't bark or whine at night to let me know she has to potty. She never has.

| Honestly, I do not feel that the food is the issue. Wellness has meat protein in its top 5 so it is going to take a little longer to digest; remaining in the intestinal tract for up to two days so that the body can absorb all the vitamins and minerals it can from the nutrient dense mash. However, simple products like corn, may pass through in just hours. When you say you "take them out" is that for a walk or just in your backyard. The reason for my query, is that walking stimulates the digestive tract in many animals. If you have not been walking her before bed, I would truly suggest it as a first course of action, before changing her food; as the change will not help with her behavior of defecating in the crate, no matter how small a space you make. Maybe if you feed at 6pm and then walk within a half hour to get the GI tract moving. I feel that changing her food would only illicit more issues than you already have. Good luck, hope this helps. |

I'll try to be sure to walk her nightly to see if that improves our situation.

Yorkie Yakker | Rox is on wellness puppy and he poops way less since we switched and an evening walk really does help empty out the bowels! Rox used to poop in the middle of the night too but now that he sleeps with us that stopped. |
