| My yorkie refuses to eat. Help please Hi everyone. I have a yorkshire terrier 2 years old, she weights 2 Kgs, and I recently married and moved to another country with my husband. She refuses to eat dog food (dry and canned). We tried giving her purina pro plan and pedigree canned food, and she will eat neather. This has already been going on for a week. But in the last 2 days she hadnt eaten it at all She will eat human food without problems, but i dont want to get her used to that. Before this she ate her food without problems (purina dog chow). We went from a 30 °C temperature all year round to 10 at nights and around 20 at days. I realise a lot of things changed for her; her enviroment, sisters and brothers, family, and a new house. She also seem to be sad and cries if I leave her alone for a moment. Im really worried for her, do you have any advice on how to make this transition easier for her? Is she just taking advantage to get human food, or is she really traumatized? Thanks in advance for all your help. Yorkieslover |

| Wow, thats a lot of changes in a short time. I think I would boil some chicken and make some rice, to at least make sure she is getting something. Then I would spend a lot of time with her helping her to adjust to her new home. She has to be very scarred at the moment, you might try some rescue remedy as well to help her to calm down some. You could also give her some nutri-cal to keep her blood sugar level up as well. She just needs time to readjust to her new life. |

| Maybe mix some chicken in with her kibble. I would try hand feeding her the kibble too. Can you call your old Vet and ask them what they think you could do to help her? She's probably just having a hard time adjusting to the new enviromemt. Also, if it's possible, try not to leave her alone at all until she gets used to things.

| You could also try a different brand of kibble. Maybe that would get her to eat. |

| Is that her only symptom, not eating? She's not lethargic or shaky or anything else is she?

| Thanks everyone for your answers. She isnt lethargic, quite the opposite she seems happy and excited when she is outside running around. Inside the house she follows me and my husband around and exploring the place. She does shake occasionally, but not so much to alarm me as much as the fact that she will not eat. I know im not supposed to cave in and give her other food other then her own, but i dont want to damage her health. Temperature atm is around 15 outside and i wonder if that is too cold for her? She has a dress and a little coat, plus I had to roll her in a blanket because she was shaking a little. Ill try giving her chicken, I bet she will eat it, and ill wait till she gets adapted to the place to start again trying to feed her with dog food. Thanks again. yorkieslover |
