| Eukanuba low-residue dog food Does anyone have info on Eukanuba dog food? My dog Chewie has very soft stool and the vet recommended this food. It's a prescription food but the first ingredient is corn filler. I am hesitant to use it because they also say Science Diet is a good dog food but I'm sure many of you would disagree (i think it's crap). I've tried a few different foods, he gets Royal Canin - which I like - and the Nature's Choice ULtra - which I've decided I don't like. He doesn't get many treats other than nyla bones and raw hides. Thanks. |

| I can't give you any advice on food... but I will tell you that his poo might be soft because of the rawhide bones. I gave Thunder some rawhide and he loved it, but he threw it up a couple of hours later and had diarreah for a couple of days. I am never giving him rawhide again!! I've heard that its because its fatty, and thats what caused sickness... You can try giving him a bit of plain rice mixed in with his regular food, or I was even told a bit of rice water is good to harden the stools. |

| Our vet told us not to use Eukanuba because of the first ingredient.

| I thought of one question and that is does your vet sell Eukanuba? It was just a thought. I know many of them (not your vet necessarily) try to push the food they carry in their office. Someone mentioned once that they get a commission off of it. I don't really know myself though.

| They do...especially science diet....thats why its in all there offices..they get a percentage off what they sale. I once was told by the vet i used to go to signed a contract to sell their food and he got a commission off it but science diet also helped pay some of their vet school student loans by doing that! ..Science diet is not good nor is eukanuba i have found. I personally give my dogs Natural choice lamb and rice...Mason Loves it.. and he does swoo well on it! Kristy and Mason |

| we started Gidget off on Eucanuba and she was fine on it but then we switched to the Nutro (I had liked what it said and she loved it) When we went back to get more they were all out so I got her the Eucanuba again (this time the lamb and rice....they didnt have any small bites in the regular) and ever since she has been stinking (to the point that I cant even hold her.....her coat has been super greasy looking (even after baths and that) and she has not only been farting but her body is eliminating stank just walking around......it is awful.....we finally put the two together.....so we have taken her off of that and have just been giving her veggies for her meals starting last night....and she isnt stinky or farting anymore yea .....so back to Nutro for us.....Sorry about the long story but i just wanted to share that the lamb and rice was no good for us. |

| There's something in Royal Canin that dog loves. Toki is picky with dry food and he will only eat royal canin. I think Innova Evo is the best food I've tried. You can see their hair shine after 1 month. Royal Canin and the other types of food made his hair dry. |
