| White or Blonde Yorkies?? Hello, My name is Valerie and I am new to the wonderful world of Yorkies. I adopted a 7 year old yorkie from a rescue on Friday. So I have only had her for a few days. She comes from a tragic past where she was kept in a tiny crate and just bred over and over again. They even cut her vocal chords. When she came to the rescue she had a full supply of milk, proving that she had just had a litter of puppies and they either all died or were taken from her immediately and she was handed over the pound and then transferred to the rescue. It is a tragic story, but now she is with me and I love her more then anything and will show her nothing but kindness and love. Anyway, my question comes from the fact that she is all white and I have never seen a white yorkie before. If I part the fur I can see that very near her body the hair is darker, more of a tan color, and in some spots looks like the normal steel/blue color I see so often. I'm wondering if her fur has been bleached by the sun while she was sitting out in her tiny crate for years or if it is just from poor nutrition. Or is she simply a blonde yorkie? Have you ever seen something like this? After a while on good food (blue buffalo holistic food) and proper grooming will the color grow back in, or are there really blonde yorkies? Thanks for the help. |

| wow Valerie what a sad story. Thank God for people like you! welcome to YT. yes there are blond yorkies. I'm not sure thats the technical name. There's a thread or a sticky I believe in the general discussions that has to do with all the different colors yorkies come. Also as you get familiar here you'll see others have dogs that look like your new baby. Whats her name? again... welcome! |

| If she is truly white, she may be Maltese mixed with Yorkie. Either way, I am so glad she is with you now! |

| Welcome to YT Thank you for rescuing this little girl. She sounds beautiful and I too would like to see pictures. My Bogey is blonde too but he is a yorkie/maltese mix.

| I have seen a white yorkie before and they said she is pure yorkie. My morkie is white but has some tan and black in her.

| If she is darker toward the skin, it is very possibly that she has lightened with each litter or heat cycle. Very normal with female yorkies. So happy that you no have her in your home. May you give each other many years of love and companionship.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | What a horrible story, this just breaks my heart, so many people don't believe that millers will cut their vocal cords, I hope you will educate people and let them know they are continuing to do this. Bless you for taking this little one in, and I don't know what she looks like, but you my dear are beautiful!

| Welcome to YT. I too adopted a puppy mill rescue back in December. The deplorable conditions these babies have to endure while in a puppy mill is horrific! Toby is now a spoiled brat (yes, he does have his moments when he's a brat!) and I wouldn't trade him for the world. We still have some things to work on but he's getting more stubborn every day. Just give her oodles and oodles of hugs, kisses and lots of attention and praise. You will have a friend for life. If you ever need any advice, there are many, many people on this site that can help you. Personally, had it not been for Megansmomma (a YT member that posted in your thread) I would have been totally lost. She was a godsend in helping me with Toby and now she is my friend! I'm sure she would be more than willing to answer any questions you might have. We want to see pics!!!!!!!!!!! We love pics!!! Again, welcome to YT and you will get all kinds of information from this site.

| Thank you so much everyone! In answer to a few questions.... She is 7 and her name is Emmalynn. She had no name when she came to the rescue from the very bad "breeder", so my husband and I named her Emmalynn. I will post pictures as soon as I figure out how to, haha. They should be up by tonight when I get home from work. Thank you again for your help and I can't wait to get to know you all and see your beautiful little puppies. |

| Hello and a huge welcome to the YT family!!! You are obviously emmalynn's angel and she is so blessed that you found her! I am very interested in learning all I can about rescue and your story just made me even more interested. I am horrified that some cut her chords and treated her so horribly. It makes me irate! On the question about her coloring I have 2 all white yorkies. My 1 year old little girl Paris is a yorkie. Her mom was a biewer and her dad was a golden dusty parti yorkie and she turned out all white (no spots and no other colors.) I also have a 15 month old black and gold yorkie male and his name is Louis. Together they just had a baby who we are keeping and he is all white like his mama. His name is Napoleon and he is almost 6 weeks old. You can view their pictures on my page to compare their coloring with emmalynn's. If you need anything please don't hesitate to give me a shout! I am looking forward to getting to know you and emmalynn better! I hope to see you around YT! Have a great day! |
