| My Morkie Won't Eat Dry Food HI, I really need some advice on what to do about my Minnie, She's a 7 month old morkie, she has been on Royal Canin since I got her in November and now she won't eat it, I don't know what to do and her poops are not good. I tried mixing yogurt as vet suggested and told me no more chicken because that's why she stopped eating it but i was giving her the chicken so she would eat the nutra cal. I'm just so worried about her. any advise would be greatly appreciated. i like my vet but he just wants her to eat the royal but she doesn't like it anymore thanks for any suggestions Sherry and Minnie |

| Did you try mixing chicken with the dry? Does she just pick it out? Normally you can just wait and they will eat because dogs won't starve themselves (for the most part), but because she is only seven months and not doing well like this, I wouldn't use that strategy. If the yogurt and chicken doesn't work, how about sweet potato? You could try changing kibble once or twice. Of course it could make her even pickier, but dogs do have some preferences and it may be okay to try a different food. Also, while very controversial, you can feed entirely canned food if you want to. Whatever you feed, her teeth should be brushed.

| I have the same problem! She was eating the kibble if I mixed it with the canned food. Then stopped eating it that way, so now I just give her the premium "Wellness" brand Just for PUppies Holistic nutrition food. She loves it! I do use a dental spray for her teeth to keep them healthy since she doesn't get much crunchy food. All is well for now...until the next Yorkie quirk surfaces! |

| Yorkies are notorious for their picky eating habits! Have you considered switching to a higher quality food. Two foods that have worked well for us were Wellness and Acana. Acana (we rotate between prairie and grasslands) has been great for Bandit who has frequent diarrhea and throwing up, and only one bout of that since we switched in OCTOBER...woohoo!! Good luck...our yorkies do seem to have us trained to feed them what they want lol. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Lifes Abundance-Holistic Premium Pet Food I would be happy to send you both dry kibble and canned, Lifes Abundance. I personally don't care for Wellness because it has canola oil in it, which is very hard to digest. PM me if you have any questions. I started a thread about Lifes Abundance in the for sale section that has the breakdown of nutrition. www.healthyhappypets.biz Shipped to your door for only 7.75. |

| I read the label on my can of Wellness Just for Puppies and there is no canola oil...nor would it be a problem if it did. I do not represent Wellness or any other dog food, just like the philosophy of the brand and so does my Yorkie! |

Maybe your can doesn't have canola oil, but if you search the Wellness site you will see that some of their dry and canned has it. There is a lot of controversy over whether or not to use canola oil as a fat source for dogs. I don't like it, it is harder to digest then a animal fat, such as chicken, which is in LA. Wellness also has been recalled and was in a lawsuit last fall, not sure the outcome. I will research that is well. Great Companions -- Nutrition Information, good nutrition results in better behavior Canola Oil: I have serious issues with canola oil, which is short for ‘Canadian oil’. There is much controversy over canola oil and whether or not it is a healthy oil. Opponents of canola oil claim that it has been used for years as a light industrial lubricating oil, that it is genetically engineered rapeseed oil, which is a member of the mustard family (it was also the source of mustard gas), that it has been classified as a biopesticide because no insects will eat it. It has been linked in in Europe as the suspected causative agent for Scrapie in cattle. It is a transfatty acid, or a partially hydrogenated oil, which has been linked to cancer in humans. However, as of 1998, the EPA states that no studies have been done on toxicity in humans. Proponents of the oil claim that it is very healthy. But because of all the controversy, I’d stay away from canola oil! There are many other healthy oils to choose from, and dogs tend to do well with animal oils. | |

We loovvveee Acana, we also rotate between Grasslands and Prairie. My picky boy loves it. He also did really well on Nature's Variety Instinct for a long time.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Have you ever done raw NV? I have been researching about adding raw in with Bayleighs diet. Looks like her knees are bad and needs extra glucosamine. Not sure if I want to give it in a pill form or raw diet. ?? Still researching that one.... |

| I have a very, very picky little girl too. I discovered that mixing green peas works wonders. Best of luck to you in finding a solution.

| Canola oil aside, I will research the "recall issue". I do want the best for my Yorkie and having read about LA, I am inclined to give it a try. Thank you for the infor on LA and Wellness. Gabi is only 6 mos. old and it has been a trial and error in finding a food that she likes as well as the most nutritional. I definately want to go the "no wheat, corn, soy" direction. |

| Nope - not yet! I'm really interested in the raw feeding, but have not yet due to cost and not knowing enough about it.

| Thanks for offering free sample. I did not find recalls for any Wellness products. Do not know what "law suit" was about, but no problems with the food being tainted. Seems to be a very high quality product, as I am sure LA is. There is a lot of misinformation circulating on the internet about Canola Oil. It is a very safe, highly digestible oil that is safe for humans and animals. I use it myself. Canola oil is pressed from the Canola Plant, not rapeseed or any other source. Please go the Canolacouncil.org website for more information about this oil if anyone is concerned about it being an ingredient in their pet's food. |

| Have you tried Merricks? My little snob seems to like it. I buy the canned as well. With her, I add a little warm water to the dry food to soften it and she enjoys it far more. |
