YorkieTalk Newbie! | Pain medication CIAO, My Yorkie, age 4, male is suffering from hip and joint inflammation and pain. I brought him to our Vet and he prescribed METACAM 15ml. I want to know if anyone has this problem with their Yorkie and what medication seems to reduce the pain. I want to be aware of all medications that are available, prescription and over the counter medications. Thank you, Thomas |

| Interesting. I know my friends dog was on both Tramadol and Metacam after his surgery (broken tibia) and my friend was really nervous about the Tramadol because it completely knocked her little guy out and she felt like his heart rate increased and was beating faster and he was breathing harder from the Tramadol. She said the Metacam worked great though and didn't affect her little guy as much. Hmmm.

| Wrigley was on Metacam when she hurt her leg and she did fine most of the time, but once in awhile she would throw up. You are supposed to give it with food. Camden was prescribed the same after her surgery two weeks ago and did fine on it. She only took it for three days, but didn't have any problems.
