Do puppies normally lose their appetite while teething? Harley has a mouth full of teeth ... too many teeth! His neutering is scheduled for Friday and the vet said he'd get a good look and take out all the extras, but he just hasn't seemed himself the past two days. He doesn't want to eat anything and I didn't know if I should be concerned or not. He just turned 6 months and he's not a tiny one ... weighs about 6 1/2 pounds.

Offer him a little Pedylite to drink and some rice with chicken. That might cheer him up and make him feel better. worth a try.

Thanks! That sounds like a good idea. He's just acting kinda droopy ... almost like he's overheard me talking about going to the vet soon to get neutered & teeth pulled. He also has to get his dew claws removed.

That makes me so mad that they weren't taken care of before I get him. The vet said that's going to be the worst part of all they're doing ... needless to say, I'm a nervous wreck. We probably both need some chicken and rice comfort food.

Is he feeling any better now? Pedylite sure perks my two up when they dont feel good.

Debbie, thanks for asking, that's really sweet of you. He is feeling better! I dug through the cabinet last night looking for something to give him and came across a jar of Gerber's toddler turkey sticks. I'm not sure how good those are for dogs, but he absolutely LOVES them. He ate a little bit of that before bed and then a little dog food this morning. This afternoon he is back to his wild & crazy little self.

Im so glad he is back to his normal wild and crazy self. lol Thats great news.

Rowdy absolutely adores the Gerber toddler turkey/chicken sticks. In fact, there was a time when he decided he would not eat dog kibbles and he ate the turkey sticks everyday. They are good quality protein, not too much fat, I think that they are just fine for the little ones. Thankfully though, I just kept giving Rowdy dog kibbles and with just a few pieces of the meat sticks on top and finally, he started back eating the kibbles. Now, he only gets a turkey stick as a treat.

Oh! I'm glad your little one is better. I just responded to a post about teeth and I'll copy and paste it here, too. Perhaps it'll help someone.

Also, she quit eating her dog food completely. So, I boiled chicken and rice, too. That is until the rice came back up one day. She has really had a rough time. Thank goodness it is almost over!

Well, I've had three chihuahuas and one yorkie prior to Kacee. None of the previous one's had any trouble at all. Along comes Kacee and breaks the mould. She had an upset stomach and a little diahrrea with it. She had quite a time putting it mildly. She was so sick a couple of days she barely got up and around. I knew it was her teeth. Mother's just know these things! Thankfully her teeth are almost all through her gums now. I really felt sorry for her, because I have never seen one feel so bad as she did. My vet said they are just like children. Some have little or no trouble, while others have a terrible time with it.
