| Eating off the ground Has anyone been able to teach their yorkie not to eat off the floor, the ground, etc ? I know of other dogs which were successfully taught not to eat anything from the ground or given by another person, but I wonder if it is possible to teach a yorkie this?

| Ha! Most of us are just trying to get them to eat period!! I know of three Yorkies and at some time or another they all required hand feeding. They 're pickie about the food, but any other thing laying around is fair game! Good luck! |

| So True! Twinkie is so picky when it comes to her food, but she loves to eat worms after it rains. Go figure! I should start my own line of dog food, listing worms as the first ingredient! Yuk! |

| Hahaha.. oh god... Samy would eat anything.. he loves to eat .. he really belongs in our family because we eat SO MUCH! His tummy is always full (but I only feed him twice per day restricted amount) and he is always sniffing around for more food and when I am cooking he walks around me sniffing in hopes I drop something - then he runs for it.. Today he started eating a wrapper thinking I dropped food on the floor so I had to fight him to get it out of his mouth.. He is not hungry, i am sure of it but he is like us I guess - GREEDY - always up to eat something delicious any time anywhere hahah

| Twinkie would still eat it, dirt and all! I wish I knew of some magic food that she would gobble up! I have read every topic on YT about food and nothing seems to work. Why, oh why, does she make me feel bad when I'm eating pizza and she can't have any? Pizza dog food! That's it! Maybe worm and pizza dog food?! I don't see how I can lose!!! |

| I've taught Rio the "leave it" command so she knows not to pick up something off the floor. I would place a piece of food on the ground and if she tried to take it I would tell her "Leave it" in a firm voice and once she stepped back she got a treat. Then I would move the piece of food closer to her and if she tried to take it, again I would say "leave it" and once she turns away I would praise her and give her a treat. Now I can toss a piece of food right at her feet and if I tell her "Leave it" she stops and just looks at me. This is such an important command so that your furbaby doesn't eat anything dangerous - like a dropped prescription pill etc... |

| Stopping the dog from eating off the floor? Took us 10 years to teach the kids not to do it. |

| Katie will eat anything. She is on a diet, so I'm sure she's always hungry, but she needs to lose a few. She will eat lettuce, and if I offer it to Uni she will just look at me like I am crazy. Katie once ate the foil and paper wrapper, like the kind from Arby's. It was wadded in a ball in my car for like a week. I ran into the market really quick and when i came back she had shredded it and ate most of it. Then she barfed on my lap on the way home. She ate something off the ground yesterday too. Don't know what it was, but she is fine, so I guess nothing too bad. But she is such a dog compared to Uni. Quote:

| Geez, so like Reesie to not eat off the floor, or anything else, unless she's hungry. Otherwise she needs to be spoon-fed every other day! She loves mice. Likes to catch 'em and bite 'em. I always wondered why there isn't a cat or dog food in Mouse Flavor. I think she'd eat that. |

| My girl used to like taking her food from the bowl and placing it on the floor before eating it. But she got over it, I actually put a pee pad underneath her bowls just so she won't eat off the floors. I don't know if she grew out of it or didn't like the taste of the pad
