| Excitement Urination?? I think my puppy may have this. After I take her out of her kennel, she potties and i let her have some floor time but within 5 minutes, she pees somewhere else in the room after she had already peed. After having that accident, 5 minutes later she potties again in a different place. This has happened on several occasions. What should I do to eliminate this behavior? I know i'm not suppose to punish her for it but I want to do something to discourage that behavior.....Caught her in the act just now I try to take her to her potty place but by that time shes already done since there was not much urine in the first place. Do i just ignore it when it happens and only act pleased during the times that i am actively training her to potty on her pad? I can't do potty training outside yet since she is not fully vaccinated. Will it be difficult to transition from paper to outside? (She is 8 wks now). |

| I have one that pees when she gets excited too. She just turned 1, so I don't know if she'll grow out of it. I am still hoping Good Luck and hopefully someone here will have some advice on training. |

| I have tried everything that is usually recommended for this behavior and at almost 3 my dog has still not outgrown it... I have learned when he is most likely to do it and use a belly band in those situations now.

I think your puppy is just really young, and their bladder is so tiny at 8 weeks, you really can't expect much in the way of potty training at this age. One breeder recently commented on another thread that she doesn't even start housebreaking until around 16 weeks (though you can surely start earlier). It is just amazing how often they pee when they are this young, and in a couple months it will be so much less. I really don't see this as a bad behavior, but rather just small bladder. Just keep limiting freedom in areas where you don't want her to potty, and working with her to go on pad. Mostly, be really patient. It takes a very long time sometimes.

| They do this when they are very young but even still you should show them where they are supposed to pee every time they have an accident. Samy stopped doing this at around 4 months.. He used to pee all over the house but i would always say NO to him and bring him to his designated area when he had an accident and point a finger on his pee pad and put him on it so he can smell it... so every time he had an accident he would look at me guilty and would go to stand on the pee pad... now he goes there no problem and has very few accidents at 5 months and usually when he is really far away from his pee pad.
