| Summer Allergies/cuts Bentley gets so itchy in the summer! i find clumps of his hair from him scratching (no its not fleas) We keep him in a fairly moderate length of hair but I cant decide if he needs an allergy shot, a short haircut for summer, or both Any suggestions? and if the haircut I want one still cute and not too short.. got any pics? Thank you, Bentley and I BOTH appreciate the help |

| I would try anything before a shot. Have you tried anti-itch shampoos? How about an oatmeal-based shampoo. I know some vets even carry shampoos for doggies with allergies. Anyway, I'd try that sort of thing before looking toward shots. If nothing else worked, then I'd see the vet. Have you looked at his skin to see if it is red or might have any sores or raw spots?

| It could be an allergy to their food? I have a friend that had to change foods because her dog was scratching constantly. The vet said to change the food and it worked. |

| I would not cut hair as the hair protects the skin and why i keep my allergy dog long and she wears a tshirt on top of that to protect her from the pollens. I use hypoallergenic shampoos as some dogs can be allergic to oatmeal if they have allergies so it depends on the dog |
