Yorkie Yakker | Diet Change On Saturday, I finally got a new puppy! The breeder didn't give us any of her food. And I failed to ask what she had been eating. I normally use Science Diet for puppies (my vet recommended that) so I just gave her some of that Saturday night and Sunday. Today, she hasn't eaten anything and only has been drinking a little. I'm guessing it's a diet change...but I would really like to be reassured. Thanks to everyone in advance! ~Beth |

| Congratulations for your new puppy! Can you call the breeder to ask what she had been eating? Make sure you have some Pedialyte or Karo syrup on hand in case your puppy has a hypoglycemic episode from not eating or drinking. I don't think decreased drinking is a typical response to diet changes. You should take your puppy to your vet as soon as possible for a general exam. Most breeders require buyers do this within 24-72 hours of picking up the puppy. |
