| Get Taste of the Wild or wait for Acana Toby is 1 yr, Maisie 6 months. They are both on Orijen puppy and I have about 2-3 weeks left of food. I will have to put them onto an All stages food now, because Tobys isnt a puppy anymore. Taste of the Wild and Acana seem to be the only two I can get here in the UK. I am worried about the Ethoxyquin in the Taste of the Wild, but the Acana is out of stock for another few weeks. Both have pretty sensitive tummys so I need to change them over gradually, and if I wait on the Acana I dont think I will have time to do that properly. What does the Ethoxyquin do? Would it do much harm to have them on the Taste of the Wild for a few months?

| I understand your frustration. I have one on TOTW right now. I tried to switch her over to Wellness, but she had allergies to it, so I had to go back to TOTW. I have a young one that will need to be put on something other than puppy too, and I am looking forward to them both being on the same food. Plus, TOTW is found locally where others are not. What to do? I know I am of no help, but I do understand. I have not had any problems with TOTW btw, actually like the results, so I am anxious to see if you get replies.

| Oh, that is a toughy...can you get the small sample size of the Orijen Puppy and keep them on that until the Acana comes in?? I'm not sure if you have that size available to you? Acana is my favorite kibble.... Snick & Viv

YT 2000 Club Member | Could you order the Acana online? It will cost you for shipping but to me it would be the safer choice if you are worried about the Ethoxyquin in totw. I just started being able to get the Acana around here, I had to order it online. It would cost me around 20ish dollars for the smaller bag and shipping. Expensive, but worth it. A 5 pound bag generally last me 4 to 6 weeks, feeding my 2 smaller dogs.. 4 and 9 pounds. It is still hard to come by on certain websites. . The company really needs to pick up production.. Or you could do as viviansnickers suggested, just keep them on the orijen until the Acana comes in. It wont hurt them for them to be on it a little bit longer.

| Acana can only be bought from one retailer in the uk and it is online and out of stock to 23 march. Can only get the orijen online too and shipping is as expensive as the bag of food for the small bags. Am frustrated!

I did have my dogs on it last year for about 3 months and the longer they were on it, the more they started having issues with it, but my dogs seem to be pretty sensitive and have had issues with a lot of the better foods. (more than what they had while eating grocery store stuff, go figure.. ) Well, I wish I could be of more help to you...

| I would just leave them on the puppy food a little longer until the Acana becomes available. I gave my dogs some Acana that I got as a sample, and they LOVED it.

| Also, you asked about ethoxyquin. It is used as a preservative for fats and fish meal. It is a carcinogen, and has been banned from human foods.

| I'd figure out a way to get the Acana. Mine love it, I get the largest bag my pet store carries. I had to wait on the small breed because I heard Acana is behind a little on shipments. My store was waiting 3 weeks for it so I decided to go with just the regular sized pieces in the chicken. It's perfect for all 3 dogs. |

Theyve had HUGE shipment issues for a few months now. Stores just cant keep in stock because of slow production and high demand. I just ordered a bag online on friday and I had to look at several different sites before I found one that actually had it in stock and shipping was reasonable. However, on Saturday while going into my local feed store I found out that they are now going to start selling it, but they too had sold out and was waiting on a shipment. They told me that they would have some in on Thursday, I will be there that day.. I can buy a bigger bag there for what I can online for the smaller bag with shipping.

Lady at my store told me they are working on expanding and shipments should be returning back to normal soon. It's such a good food, lots of people are making the switch and it is hard for them to keep up. Seems like they are a small company. | |
