| Vet Visit I took Roxie to the vet for a checkup and vaccinations yesterday. When the vet weighed her he said she has gained 5 ounces since November! I thought that was an awful lot! She is now 6.12 pounds. He said they sometimes gain after getting spayed or from changing food. I've done both of those things in the last month. Her walks have also been shorter due to the weather and all the snow. I don't want Roxie to become overweight...especially since he also told us her back knees are bad and might sometimes pop out of place! Is that a common thing in Yorkies? I just want my pup to be in good health. This is my first experience with owning and caring for a dog and I already feel like so many things are going wrong!

| Well, she's not just gaining puppy weight, so I'd cut back on her food or treats...My vet said cut back 1/3 of Apple's diet, when she was spayed, but she got tooooooooo thin, and we went back to the same....but, she is eating raw...Maybe when the weather gets better, you can exercise more...One thing about these babies...They can gain weight in a hurry, and they can also lose it in a hurry.. |
