| Will my yorkie be a teapot? My baby Marley will be 7 months in a week. He currently weighs 6.1 lb, will he get bigger or will he stop growing? I don't care about size as long as he is healthy, but i'm just curious to know. I would like to read your experience. Last edited by sullita84; 03-04-2010 at 09:23 PM. Reason: incorrect wording |

| Pepper currently weighs 2.6 lbs at 8 weeks. According to all these growth charts and formulas, he's going to be 7.8 lbs at adult weight which I think is a bunch of rubbish. They say you should triple their weight at 8 weeks or double it at 12 weeks. His parents are both under 4.5lbs so, I'm also wondering....... But I'll be happy if he's a teapot anyway LOL!!! Marley's gorgeous by the way!

| I can only pray Shay (just turned 1) will be a tea pot...but I do think since we brought Bella home, I swear he has grown, he feels heavier, but alas still wears xxs shirts, so maybe cause Bella is so small..lol..he was 2.5 forever..we go to the vet next week for his yr, bloodwork, and I am anxious to see... I think the chart is just a guide, not exact....I think there are alot of different fators to consider, that would change it a lil..

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Growth charts are hit and miss, but the one I checked (Yorkshire Terrier - Yorkie Puppy Growth/Weight Chart - watch us grow) says a 5 pound Yorkie at 26 weeks (6 1/2 months) will be 6 pounds at 1 1/2 years. If that were to prove accurate, you'd be right on the borderline of 7 pounds. Whether a little over or a little under that mark, that's a great, healthy weight!

| Jackson is 12lbs but he pretty much stopped growing after 6 months. He was 6lbs at 12 weeks old.

| I don't put much faith in the growth charts. Rily was charting small...but, he over shot the chart at 9-9.5 lbs. Saydee was charting even bigger...but, she hasn't grown any in the last 4-6 weeks, hovering around 6-6.5 lbs. So, you never know until they are done!...some stop early (Saydee)..some continue to grow longer (Rily)
