| Neutering...need to know what to expect Hi! Rucker, my 17 week old puppy, is getting neutered on Thursday. I need to know what to expect from having this done. Will he be in much pain? Will he act differently afterward? Will I be able to hold him after I bring him home? Will they send him home with pain meds or any other meds?

| My Thomas had no meds sent home..had dissolving stitches..and had to wear a halo for about a week. (which he wore it for 3 days)! He was actually more loving after it was done..and best of all? No More Humping! |

| I was wondering why you are doing it at that age. I waited until they were 7-ish months so they could have any retained baby teeth pulled at the same time. Bandit was EXTREMELY lethargic that whole entire night, and was very subdued the next day, but then was back to his normal self. Nala on the other hand came home and I let her cuddle on the bed for a few hours because she was a bit tired, but then woke up and there was no stopping her. We used and baby onesie for her so she wouldn't bite her stitches. There were no behavior changes, but if you are noticing aggression I think neutering can help that. Good luck |

| Hot Rod was 6 1/2 mos when he was neutered. He also had 14 teeth removed. We didn't get any pain meds, and I wished that I would have insisted on them. He was kinda out of it for about 3 days. Best of luck with your little one. I have soft collars if you might be interested in that. Click on my link in my signature and feel free to pm with any questions. Best of luck with your little one. I'll be sending good thoughts and prayers. Please let us know how he is doing.

| Duke was just about 4 mos when he was neutered. They sent him home with pain meds which we only used for about 2 days. He was very sleepy and quiet when I first got him home. I could tell he was sore. He just layed in his crate. The first time he tried to walk he cried and was almost limping from being sore. Let me tell you....later that night after some pain meds he was chasing our big dog all over the house, we had a hard time keeping him settled and quiet. By the next day you wouldn't even know he had surgery. They didn't send him home with a cone either. Good luck!! Gina
