Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Flakes in her fur.... When ever I brush Izzy she get flakes in her fur...I bathe her 1 x every 10 days...I use an oatmeal shampoo then i blow dry her cuz she gets sooooo cold. She also gets them on her ears too... When we got her from the breeder she smelled sooooo bad....I had to bathe her 4 x's to get the smell out of her fur... She has gone to the vet and they said she looks great...She got a complete bill of health... So what's up with the dry skin that flakes everytime I brush her..aghhhhhhhh..lol Thanks for all your help in advance...

| Flaky fur My girl's fur is the same way. From what I've been told, their skin is a little more than sensitive. They need to be bathed less frequently because of the sensitivity of their skin. Its kinda like dandruff in humans. I use lots of conditioner. I even spray her with a mild leave in conditioner. I haven't consulted a vet or breeder in too much depth about it because these things work for her. Also using a mild soap when bathing will cut down on the irritation. If anyone else has any other suggestions, I'd like to hear them too! |

| Chewie had flakes had dry looking skin 4 mnths ago and also on his ears. I thought it was just dry skin, turns out it was ringworm. What tests did the vet do on your dog? Did they test him for ringworm and fungus?

| Perhaps it's the shampoo you are using. It might be too drying for her skin, even with the oatmeal in it. Do you use a conditioner?
