| One ear dropped...is this a sign of illness? I don't know what to make of it. It's been about 4 days that my boy's right ear dropped and it just flops now. The other ear is perky as usual. I'm concerned because he had a little lump on his neck, under that ear 3 weeks ago. The vet squeezed it, cleaned it up and I took care of it until it healed. Also, when Nicky swallows he makes a little noise as when you're having trouble getting the food down your throat. Should I call the vet again? And this time have him give him an x-ray? What do you think it is

| How old is he? Bristol has one ear down right now but I am hoping it is just from teething and it will go back up. She is 4 months... |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would have the vet check him out just because of the swallowing issue.

| I'll do that then, thanks. I was hoping it was nothing. Nicky hates going to the vet, it ruins his excitement over going 'bye-bye in the car.'

When Bentley was little, we used to drop by the vets regularly, (almost every time we drove by) for treats. Now when we drive by he looks at me and says "Wait... they have treats there" I agree with making the trip there, it my be n infection, especially given he had the lump!

| Update on the dropped ear I had called the vet and was told that if he's not scratching it like a mad pup or if his activity hadn't changed, he (the vet) would look at it next time Nicky went in for a visit (which is often being that we're paranoid parents ). So, we took my little bundles of joy to the groomer yesterday and she said that once the ear drops, it wouldn't stand again. I asked her to trim the ear 3/4" down anyway (she didn't of course). The groomer shaved only the tip (and I mean the very tiny-tip) and trimmed around the ear...a little. And would you believe it? The ear perked right up ! I hadn't taken my fur-kids to the groomer in a while; one because I wanted their hair long for the winter, and two---I'm still searching for my match in grooming beliefs. Apparently, the hair was weighing one ear down, but not the other, weird . It looks like it's going to stay up too.

| We did start scratching our ears a couple of weeks ago. I called the vet right away and have since finished ear drops. Now randomly one or the other ear is down. But one or the other is ALWAYS up. OCCASIONALLY both are up at the same time for a moment or two. Still holding out. She is teething like crazy! Oh yea...we are keeping them shaved as well. I just drop by the groomers every couple of weeks or so. Not a full groom just her ears. |

Remy had a tape worm (post flea incident) last year and his one ear 1/2 dropped during that time. His vet did say his ears were clear when he went in for a checkup. Once the tape worm was dealt with, and he was healthy, his ear came back up. It may seem strange, and if it had not actually happened to us I would not comment. Feel free to check out my album, you can see his ears were up since he was a pup - his 1 yr pic has the ear down - and then its back up again. Hope your little one feels better soon! | |

| Sam is an oddball :-) not only does his hair NOT grow but one ear is up and the other is down, it's been that way since he was a tiny guy. i think it gives him character :-) So glad your pup is doing well. |
