| Best way to plump up my girlie?? Zoe is very lean and very skinny, She is just so dainty and her ribs seem to protrud a tiny bit, She is healthy and very very active which is why she is sooo thin I believe. Does anybody have any specific foods or tips on how to help her bulk up a little bit? I want to help her put on a little but in a safe and healthy way rather than over feeding treats etc... |

| Lol, sounds like my JiJa. Her ribs are sticking out with a nice round belly sticking out. Good question!

| How old is she? My Sweet Sophie was always a string bean but as she approaches 2 I can see her starting to fill out.

| I would try breaking her meals down into several small meals a day instead of the standard breakfast and dinner. That way she gets a little more food spread out throughout the day.

| Yeah I make sure she has food available to her at all times but she just picks at it all day. her bowls are really small and if you fill it in the morning she still has a little left by bedtime.. I'm thinking I need to add in a wet food of sorts maybe to help fatten her up.. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Before you go to "plumping her up" you might want to check and make certain she is truly underweight. My last two foster girls I thought were underweight because you could feel even their backbones, not just their ribs and the vet said their weights are just fine. If she is truly underweight I would still want to consult a canine nutritionist to make certain the weight she adds is done properly.

| My vet says she is healthy but she would like to see another .5 lbs on her frame. She recommended feeding more often, but Zoe has food available at all times, its just a matter of finding something she likes that is healthy but will help her to gain a little bit.. I'm going to the organic market today I'm going to see if they have something natural for her.. |

| I would definitely try the wet food. Evo has a nice wet food which is a little higher in fat so be sure to monitor how much you give her and how much she is gaining. Wellness also makes a 95% meat canned food. Good Luck Snick & Viv

| Hi! My Maggie looks the same way. We switched her food from Eukanuba (breeder fed) to Wellness puppy and bought medicated conditioner from the vet. We are also starting to feed her fish oil pills (from the vet) to help her produce her own oils. There seems to be some improvement after two weeks. I was alsi told to brush her everyday as that will help release the oils. |

| A lean dog is better than a plump dog, IMO Just be careful w/ plumping her up... some dogs are built differently than others and are simply naturally skinny no matter how much they eat. Yorkies seem to be pretty good at self regulating their food amounts also so she's probably just right. Building muscle would probably be better... you say she's active? I know Jackson gained 'weight' in muscle mass and I think it was from all the swimming he does over the summers, plus he's constantly on his back hind legs building up those muscles... along with lots of running, wrestling, walking, etc. So rather than over-feeding her (like you said) I'd just up the exercises. Ever thought about doing agility? That can build muscles. As for food, I've heard from a few people that the pre-made raw food Stella & Chewy's tends to put some weight on some pups. I feed it to Jackson in the mornings for breakfast and haven't noticed any weight gain myself, but he's only eating one patty per day...

| My little guys is underweight and I had two vets tell me I could give him a little bit of cooked pasta. I have been doing that so we will see what happens. |
