| What would you suggest? Reesie is 6 months old. I can not seem to get him on an eating schedule. He gets so distracted by my 3 kids. He is always wanting to play even if they are in another room, he hears them and wants to be where they are so he will not eat. I would like to feed him twice a day, but it is not working. I'm not sure if he is still too young to be put on a schedule or not. If I really want him to eat, a lot of times I have to hand feed him a little so he will taste it and then will eat some on his own. Otherwise, I end up having to keep his food down throughout the day for him to eat. I also tried to pick it up after giving him the opportunity to eat, but that didn't seem to work. He just would not eat, and it didn't seem to bother him. He is 9 lbs. So I'm not too worried about him starving. I think he is holding out to scavenge the floor for crumbs that my kids leave, which I try my hardest to keep clean. I also put him on his leash while we are eating so he will not get anything that may fall on the floor. But he still seems to find something. Should I just keep his food down all day, or stick with only feeding him twice a day? Thanks!

| There are varying opinions about scheduled feedings vs. free feeding (leaving food available all day). I do something in between: scheduled meals, but I don't take away the food if Maximo doesn't eat it right away. Reesie could be bored with his food. Is it kibble and have you tried putting anything special on it to entice him? You could try little bits of a green bean or two, or little bits of Natural Balance lamb roll -- just a little. Maximo has been eating his entire meal more consistently after I changed his food. I think he was bored with Natural Balance. He loves his Fromm Chicken a la Veg. |

| I free feed kibble, that way they eat when they are hungry. However, I also home feed them 1-2 small meals during the day as well. That way if one does not eat that meal, they still have kibble down in case I have to leave. It takes the worry out of it. |

| I free feed Sandy, he eats whenever he wants. In the morning he'll have yoghurt, in the evening I usually give him some veggies (peas and carrots) and fruits. Is he a picky eater? |

| I've always free fed both of mine. They don't seem to have a tendency to over-eat so it works out well. I fill their bowl up twice a day and they munch all day - just when ever they get hungry. Makes it a lot easier for me, too. I can put the food down in the AM and not worry about it. Then, I fill it up when I get home from work, too. Mine do very well making their own eating schedule. Plus, mine are paper trained so I don't need to have them on a bathroom schedule. So, it works for us. |

| Thanks everyone. I guess I am trying to keep him on a schedule so I have an idea when he will need to go poopy. If I free feed will he eventually get on a pooping schedule?

This was my main reason to put him on a schedule so I could predict when he will need to go. Since it has been so cold lately he would sometimes go pee and then run back in the house and not go poop, when I knew he needed to. We have had a couple of accidents because of that. Also, is there any kind of gravy I can put on his food so he will eat it better?

I don't know of any gravy, but I have used ground up Natural Balance lamb roll. Use just a little bit. For my 8.0 boy, I used less than the size and thickness of a dime. Or you can chop up a green bean and add it to the kibble to entice your little guy to eat. | |

| I feed my girls Merrick, you add warm water and you get instant gravy. My girls love it. And I leave some dry in their bowl so whenever they get hungry.
