| Not sure what's wrong I have a 4 lb, 3-year-old yorkie, and she seems depressed. I don't think she is sick because she eats her usual meal, but she sleeps a lot. In the early evenings, she sleeps or just lays on her bed. She does not want to play and she seems less energetic. This has been going on for the past month. I give her toys, but she won't play with them, but she usually doesn't play will toys when she is her typical self. I know that I have been feeling depressed lately with my recent move to Arizona. I don't know if she is picking up on that? or Initially I thought maybe she was adjusting to the heat? I don't know. Anyone here ever experience your yorkies depressed? Marilyn |

| we have had to move dogs with us before and it seemed they did get depressed, too. i DO think yorkies are intuitive and she is most likely picking up on you. if it is hotter in phoenix then where you are from (we are in houston and i have visited phoenix recently so i understand the difference) she may be feeling lazy during the day. i know i did! i think a few yt'rs live in phoenix so maybe you can hook up with them and so can your baby. depending on the area you are in, i know of one dog park. when we had to evac houston we took the dogs and it was a short walk fr our hotel. i'm sure more people can help you out... |

| It is possible that she is depressed because of the change in surroundings, especially if you are upset about it. Dogs are very intuitive when it comes to their humans. Also, she may be sluggish due to the change in temperature. I know I'd be sluggish in that heat! And I'm from Florida already Maybe you should try to do something fun with her? Take a jog around the new neighborhood, maybe try to meet some new puppy pals? Bender and I just moved across the Atlantic from Europe, and he was pretty scared/depressed because of the change in surroundings when we first came. He also misses my husband, who will be gone until the beginning of November. He loves to laze around most the day anyway, but he seemed specifically slower when he walked, you could tell he was hunched and sad. I found him new doggy treats he liked, got him a bunch of new toys (also, old favorite toys make your puppy feel more at home), and I introduced him to 4 other Yorkies (3 males and a female). He made quick friends with all of them, and is very active now, and much happier! |

| I think they normally miss THEIR home. They miss what is familiar to them and all of the familiar surroundings. Everything is new and different to them, too. Don't think that they don't notice. They observe everything.

| I think this will probably pass as she gets used to her surroundings more. Spend tons of time with her if you can, and if she doesn't get better, I'd take her to the vet.

| I agree and believe it can be attributed to the move/relocation, your dog has "lost" its comfort zone or shall I say "territory". Yes, they are very sensitive and intuitive, picking up on the owners emotions.... Just give it some time, and show lots of love.

| We took all of our to the beach for a week this past June, and for all they knew we had moved and were never going back home, and they acted different. She will probably be fine once gets used to it.
