| What's the best age to get your baby neutered? I just got a notice from my vet that it's time for my baby to get neutered. He's 5 months today...but I read somewhere that it's good to wait until they're 6 months to be neutered. At what age do you think it's best to get your baby neutered? Thank you! |

| Is it ok to get them neutered sooner than that? I was wondering if it would be better to do it before they started lifting a leg???

| I was told with my girls that to get them spayed 6 mos is the best age but with my boston terrier, she is getting spayed at 5 months. Not sure about the neutering should be the same I would think. I read somewhere that 6 months is the best age.

| Most will not lift their leg before 6 months, I have seen them not lift even at 9 months.

| Marley's vet recommended he get neutered as early as 4 months, my baby just turned 5 months today, but he was neutered 2 days before turning 5m. he seems to be doing well, acting like nothing happened. Here is a picture of my little angel. |

| I say 6 months is a perfect time, normally they are at the recommended weight by then.

| I feel that it is best to wait until they are over 1 year old. Here are two different articles that bring up some very good points to consider. http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongT...uterInDogs.pdf Canine Sports Productions: Early Spay-Neuter Considerations for the Canine Athlete |

| Hot Rod was neutered at 6 1/2 months. He hadn't started to lift his leg yet.

| Winston was neutered a week before turning 7 mos. I read it's recommended to neuter after his adult teeth come in, but he's still teething. He didn't lift his leg yet, but he had started humping so we figured it was about time. He came home from the vet just fine, but wore a donut to prevent licking the wound. |

| I haven't had experience with little boys but our vet recommended 6 months or 2 lb. for our Toto's spay. We had to wait until she was 8 months to reach 2 lbs. She did great!! Good luck with your decision.

| My vet recommend 1 yr old, to ensure they were fully grown and developed, as it can effect their growth. Toby was 9 months when he was neutered. He had to have surgery for Legg Perthes, so they did him when he was under. They vet was satisfied that he was fully grown and it should cause no issues. I also waited until Millie was 1 yr old, but that one didnt work out just as well. Poor Millie RIP. Just to add. Toby was a well established marker, inside and out, usually trying to mark over where Maisie peed in the house. Since he was neutered, he hasnt marked, (though his housetraining has slipped backward a bit for some reason), and he has returned to squatting to pee.
