| Bright Yellow Pee Brady had a little accident in the house today and we noticed that her pee is extremely yellow!!! Really really bright. There is no odor though. To get a urine analysis is $55 and I am wondering if there;s anything I can do to try to remedy it before going to the vet. For example, can dogs have cranberry juice?? Does anyone know what this could be?? Thanks. |

Stewie has/had a UTI (We have a follow-up to see if its finally gone soon). I think you should probably have Brady checked out and see if antibiotics are needed. UTIs are really nasty in small dogs. My vet told me that if it is bright yellow, it usually means that there are traces of blood in the urine. Hope I helped. Good luck with Brady

| Kristy knows! poor Stewie Also make sure she is getting enough water as that is also an indication of dehydration or if she waited a long time between going it could be dark. |

| I got a syringe and had him pee on a newspaper. I sucked it up with the syringe from there. Good luck!. oh and btw - when I brought him in to the doctor, he peed on her.

| With Muffin, I'd take one of those little 3 oz cups and cut it off about halfway and as soon as she squatted I'd slip it under her. It needs to go in the fridge (yes) asap and then to the vet. Mine wanted the date and time written recorded for some reason.

| I would definitely take Brady to the vet if his urine is bright yellow. If it is a UTI, he will more than likely need antibiotics...My Miko has also had some urine infections that were actually pretty nasty because he had traces of blood in his urine. His were due to crystals in his bladder because of his liver shunt. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I hope Brady is ok - are you giving her vitamin supplements or anything ? Sometimes vitamins will turn urine totally neon yellow - but I would sure check with the vet ....ANY change in color or odor should be discussed w/the doctor because that can be a sign of something wrong....it's good that you spotted this...Good luck !! |

| I really never thought about this with Bender, since he drinks a lot and his pee doesn't ever have a strong odor, but now I'm worried. I took him out for a walk and he peed on a post and it was really bright yellow (not dark, very light), no nasty smell or anything, but the topic has made me leary. His behavior isn't any different, but he's going to the vet for heartworm meds tomorrow and I'm going to have them check it out anyway...better to be paranoid than sorry |

| Brady Update. What a weekend. Brady had a bump on her chest that kept getting bigger over the weekend, I made an appt with the vet for first thing yesterday morning but then Monday night it ruptured. Lots of liquid came out, no odour, a little pink from blood I think. Anyway, straight to emergency we went....she got an antibiotic injection and we were told to clean the area with a warm salt water compress and she was also put on homeopathic pain relief. Poor litte thing. When I mentioned the bright pee the vet said it could have been a reaction to what was going on in her body with the bump. He said to watch it for odour but to see if it clears up with the antibiotics. Poor Brady, she was so scared and so was I. The sore looks really good as of this morning, it is drying up nicely and she was playing like her usual self. Thank goodness. The vet thought the bump probably came from her getting poked with something, probably a thorn or sharp weed...and then I remember she had run into a big nasty weed in the park about 10 days ago. We really have to watch these little guys don't we! Thanks for all the advice. |

| I am a day late and a dollar short in responding to your post but needless to say, I am so happy to hear that your baby is improving. Please keep us up-dated about the yellow urine situation. I think Villette asked about vitamins. Have you started giving them to Brady recently or changed food or treats? Just wondering.. |

| No, Brady isn't taking any vitamins and there hasn't been any change in her diet. I will definitely keep an eye on it however it's so hard because she goes in the grass and it has been raining like crazy here!! |
