| Just spayed & having accidents Belle was just spayed on Tuesday and decided she wants to go potty anywhere she likes since shes gotten home. She was doing really well with her pee pads and we had just started letting her sleep next to the fireplace in her cozy bed instead of being in her crate in the mudroom. Is this typical behavior? I feel like shes saying "well mom since you let them cut my belly I'm going to poop where ever I want". Unfortunately shes now back in the mudroom until she uses the pad again, even when shes out there she'll go next to it instead of on it and look right at you while shes doing it. its like a rebellious teenager |

| I can't say that Apple was 100%, when I had her spayed, although she was 1 yr. old...The first week, after her spay, she was really having lots of accidents...She's doing better now, but I'm the one who's trained, not her...If I don't get her out, right after she wakes up in the a.m. or a nap, during the day, she wets where she wants (she's outdoor trained)...But, she's really good at going on command, when I take her out....I'd give your baby a little more time, before I'd draw any conslusions...I'd keep her in a small place, too, 'till she starts getting it again....Hope all goes well for you... |

| I'm in the same boat. Laynee was completely pee pad trained and outdoor trained until her c-section/spay. Now she will "occasionally" go on her pads but LOVES to poo in my sons room and on my area rug. Idk why but i was assuming it was because of her surgery??? Just had surgery on the 2nd so i'm gonna give her more time.

| Well it sounds like its a common issue, but I feel horrible having to keep her in the other room especially since the surgery was a few days ago. I hope she doesnt have to be retrained but i cant have her going all over the house. How long has Laynee been trained? Belle had only been accident proof for about 2 weeks before surgery. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My foster pom was spayed 9 days ok and has been peeing a lot more and has had a few accidents so I think it has to do with the spaying, although I don't remember it with my others.

| This is a common issue. I would start potty training all over again in order for her to grasp the concept. Good luck!

| Same thing going on with Zoey Not everytime and not everywhere but she does have some accidents now. I was not sure if it was the spaying or the loose stools issue we had. She also seems to be a bit more agressive with a few of her toys and my socks/slippers I thought I read somewhere that she may 'test' me a bit now thru 9 mos and I wonder if the spay just triggered it??!!

| A friend of mine has 2 pugs and she told me that they mellowed after they were spayed though she didnt mention anything about the potty issue. Did anyone find this to be true? Did your babies calm down after fixed or did they still bomb around like crazy? |

Spaying Maggie has now slowed her down one bit. She was a year old in September. She was spayed last March. She has tons of energy.

| It could be UTI. Princess was having pee accidents after her spay & I took her in bc her 'symptoms/accidents' were consistent to UTI. Our vet prescribed anitibiotics & she was fine, no more accidents. I've also read on YT that UTI is very common after spay/neuter surgery.

| I think it is common for them to regress after a traumatic experience. We had a lab once that had to have a sticker removed from her eyelid and was put under. When she came home, (she was 7 months old and almost full grown) she went to her mother and started to nurse! We were cracking up over the sight, but she just needed to go back to her puppyhood a little while. Be patient and try to keep your pup in an area that is carpet free until things get better.

| Same here with Sydney. She started having accidents too after her spaying. I went back to crate training for a few days until she came back around. Don't feel guilty about keeping her in her crate. I know Syd had to take it easy for 10-14 days until her stitches came out, and keeping her in her crate was the best way to do this. She's doing better now. |

| Rio was spayed 6 weeks ago, and she still does the Indy 500 in our living room every night, so no - definitely hasn't slowed her down one bit! We were lucky - didn't have any increased potty problems. |
