| Lepto?????? Can anyone explain to me what the Lepto shot is and what is it used for? Is it an individual shot or is it combined with other shots? I've read terrible stories about this particular shot and wanted to know more about it. I'm a new puppy parent wanting to learn as much as I can. Thanks in advance for the info. Happy holidays everyone |

| leptospirosis protects dogs from an infection they will only get from contact with wildlife. In the past, this was seen mostly in farm dogs who were exposed to infected cattle. Now many urban dogs are exposed to leptospirosis due to contact with raccoons and other critters that have invaded residential areas. The disease is spread primarily through contact with urine. That being said, I always pass on it . . .Rhianna just got her distemper and rabies shots this afternoon . . .don't know if they include lepto with the rabies or not . . .he stated "ok, you got the rabies without the lepto"

| Thanks Mom2TwoYorkies for the info. I was curious because Mocha just recieved his last puppy vacinations this evening. Lepto was never mentioned as a vacine. I asked specifically what vacines were going to be administered prior to them giving them. I wonder if the lepto is a rountine vacine or is only administered for a "possible" encounter with a wild animal. Who knows? Thanks again, I really appreciate it! |

| If you search Lepto you will see a number of recent discussions here. I said no to getting the Lepto shot for Mickey. Max did not have it either because his vet said no unless I wanted it.
