YT Addict | spay surgery scheduled for thurs morning I just wanted to update everyone. In all honesty, I did not get any blood work ordered. I just lost my job and I couldn't afford to have it done, but it should be alright. The clinic I'm going to take her to is really nice non-profit, they don't do much other things other than spay surgery, worm testing, worm medicines etc. But they will do kind of a physical check-over for me. God only knows when I will get a job in this economy especially where I live, but good news in that regard is that I start apprenticing as a pet groomer. Not sure if they will offer me a job near end of training me. But to make that comment connect to the original topic, is that after 2010 Florida is passing some new law about pet licensing and stuff. It's going to be a law and it will be more expensive, especially if your dog is NOT spay or neutered. This is why we need to take her in. I have gotten advice from many people and many people say they didn't even know about blood tests for pre op and so haven't ever had it done and never had any problems. So since I can't do it one way or the other, can everyone pray or cross their fingers for a healthy recovery for Lolli? We could really use it as I am really nervous and scared. I'd appreciate if people can try not to remind me about tough times, because we do all we can in tough times. And as far as people who talk about how if they were your kids, well honestly if I had a kid without a job right now I would be able to get government help and if not, then yeah. It would be the same for them. It hurts my heart that losing my income came at the most inconvenient time, but yeah. The vet reassures me that they think it will be okay as she doesn't have any evident health issues or any record of known health issues. So I guess mostly I am just requesting prayer/hope/good wishes from you. Maybe some success stories from similar situations?

| Sending prayers, good wishes, and hugs that all goes well. I don't have a success story for you, but wanted you to know I will be thinking of both of you. Please let us know when she's back home recovering well!

I'm going to be picking up one of those cloth type e-collars tomorrow. Pet Supermarket near me sells them.

| Depending on what time her surgery is, she may not need to go that day. If she does, I don't think I'd try walking her, just take her to where she usually goes and try that. The collar is a good idea, another idea is a onesie. I know it sounds strange, but a regular baby onesie will keep her from getting to the site. I'm sure she will do just fine. You may be the one who suffers the most! Our littlest one, Lola, will be going in Wednesday for her spay and I know I'm nervous about it. They get the easy part...they get to sleep through it!

The vet told me about the onesies idea. I like the idea of the e-collar as I will always have it once I buy it and it will be good to have in case of any emergency in the future that a onesie may not be able to prevent her from getting to (like leg, etc). When should I allow her to go back up and down steps? I don't want to risk tearing anything open so I'll have to use the baby gate to keep her from attempting too soon.

| Sorry, I just meant not to have her walk too far. As for the steps, I don't really have a good answer for that one. I would ask your vet and see what they suggest. She'll probably be very sleepy the first day so it shouldn't be too much of a concern at first. It might be a good idea to make a list of the things that you want to ask the vet - if you're anything like me, once you see your baby you'll forget everything but loving her.
