| Did she eat something out of the ordinary or maybe you changed her food too quickly? I hope she feels better

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Thanks for your concern but I hae been through all this. Rawhide quite a while ago was suspicious. A $200. visit to the vet with blood tests and suggestions of a bland diet of prescription food helped. When I ran out of that I cooked chicken and rice and fine for a day or so then again. I went back to the vet and got some more of his food. |

| Im sure the vet will have discussed worming to get rid of all parasites (not just roundworms). I had this problem too. Chicken and rice made the problem worse. I had to use a vet prescribed wormer 3 days in a row and to find a bland hypo allergenic food that suited him and if he has anything else it sets the diarrhea off again. The food that has worked best is one based on fish not chicken. Its also a canned food. The dried foods dont suit him. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Dogs have diarrhea when you suddenly change their diet. When changing to a new food, you have to go slowly and only add a tablespoon or so of new food with the old food. Even a healthy dog experiences diarrhea with a food switch, boiled chicken and rice are mild on the stomach, but can still cause diarrhea. Don't allow yourself to run out of his food, always keep some back and if you want to make a food switch. go slowly. Many prescription foods are available at Petsmart and Petco, and your dog may not even need a prescription food. Rice and chicken are good for short term; they are not balanced for a long-term diet.

| If you add canned pumpkin (pure, not spiced) this should help. However, if there is an underlying issues- it might not help for long. But if it is just from changing food- this will clear it right up. |

| My furbaby has diarrhea some time ago, asked vet they said maybe the amount of supplements I gave her was too much, I reduced it and she doesn't have that problem until now. I'm happy to know your furbaby is doing Ok now |

| Im starting to wonder about rawhide too, but I am scared to start any other sort of chew/bone in case that makes it worse again! Its worrying isnt it? By the way, has anyone found a source of canned pumpkin in England?? We see the whole pumpkins at halloween but I havent seen any of this. Maybe a health food shop? |
