| Drinking and pooping more often due to new food??? My little one has been on Acana Grasslands (switched from TOTW) for the last 1 1/2 weeks, and she drinks noticeably more (although I would not consider it excessive), and she poops probably about 4-5 times a day (she used to only poop 2 times a day. Is this something of concern, or rather, a good thing??? I'm not so sure... |

| The pooping more I'm not sure about so hopefully someone else will be able to better inform you about that, but as far as drinking, usually a food with higher protein makes them thirsty. As long as it isn't super excessive, I wouldn't worry about it. |

| I would wait a little while longer. Since it has only been 1 and 1/2 week it is still early. I would wait about a month and see if it clears up. Pooping 4-5 times a day is way too much. 2 times max and for puppies more. Mine is also on Acana and poops once or twice a day. I do feed raw with the Acana so that is a factor as well. If in a few weeks it does not clear up, I would go back to the old food or try something else. Good Luck- Snick & Viv ps. Acana is a fantastic food!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Since it's only been 1.5 weeks, it's hard to say...that'd be kind of a high # permanently...but his body may be adjusting or detoxing or something. Like Viv said, I'd give it 3-4 weeks, if you can.

| Thank you all for the advice. I will wait and see if she starts pooping less in the next week or two. She only pooped twice yesterday, but she was also in her crate from 2 to 8, so I think it might also be due to her not having been running around as much. We shall see... As far as higher protein is concerned, the two foods have the same amount of protein; the old TOTW and the new Acana |
