| Breathing Problems? I have a male yorkie who is 9 months of age. In the last month or so, he has developed some kind of snorting or? He sounds like a goose when it begins, but it only lasts a minute or so. Is this reverse sneezing or could it be some kind of respiratory problem? Could he be gasping for air? Can the vet prescribe some kind of medication for this irregularity? It seems to come upon him when he gets excited or plays too hard with his sister. I have heard so much about yorkies and collapsed trachias, could this be the problem? I used to live in California and thought it might be allergies, but I recently moved to Florida and he is still having the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

| Hi, All 3 present very similar along with Kennel Cough, I would make an appt. with the Vet, this way they canl prescribe anything if necessary. Better to be safe. |

| my girl has reverse sneezing, it is really scary to me every time it happens and it happens a lot, but i was very relieved to know it is not something serious of life threatening. Here is a good link so you can get an idea on how to tell the difference while you get the vet http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...d-trachea.html

| Mine does that too. Usually when she is a little too excited. I've always heard that if you stroke their neck when they do that it relaxes them and will help the "episode" subside. I do this with her and it totally does the trick every time. |

| Do you notice it more after he has been outside? I live in Florida as well, and I notice that Max does it after being outside in the heat. He's also panting and taking deeper breaths which then lead to the "honking" noise so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. We use a harness but I still notice it..I'm in the process of looking for a different harness to see if it helps at all.
