change of diet not agreeing I too changed Gucci food from Eukanuba dry, to Eukanuba Lamb and Rice..When I brought her home she was being fed Eukanuba dry and I continued on this till last week. She refuses to eat this, so I switched to Eukanuba Lamb and Rice, I have been adding Iams canned puppy chicken to give it taste and she loves it. These last few days she has lots of gas and her poops smell , wondering if its the Eukanuba Lamb and Rice or combination of the Iams.. What shall I do? I was thinking of switching back to the Eukanuba dry and mix it with Iams. I hear so much controversy I am confused?

I changed Archie's food too much and he didn't eat at all. If you give them food they like and then something they don't, they'll just hold out for the good food that they like. personally, i don't like the idea of feeding Archie grocery store brands. I had to correct what I did by finding one food that I liked, and he ate off my hand when I fed it to him. Then I just put the food in the bowl and left it there for him. I also didn't give him any treats or snacks. He just started eating from his bowl every day and now that's what he sticks with. I feed Archie Neura and he seems to like it and doesn't have any problems from it. As a matter of fact, my neighbor's cats and Archie's other friends come over and eat his food!

Just like us, every Yorkie is different. You do what ever you think is best. There are foods I will never use, but other people do and their dogs are fine. Thats why there are so many different kinds of food. No 2 yorkies are the same and we each do the best we can. It can also take time for the system to adjust to the new food.

Her poop smells because of the lamb and rice. That usually makes them really gassy too. I would suggest asking your vet where you can get ID dog food. I used to use Eukanuba and my little one couldn't handle it. It has a lot of corn and fillers that they can't digest very well. The ID is a bland diet that will not hurt your pup if you just start feeding it to her. They also have soft food, but either hard or soft is good. My little one loves it and all her digestive problems cleared when I started her on this. Oh and the best thing about the ID is her gas stopped so that is a plus!!! =). I would just leave the Eukanuba and Iams alone it is just not made of little dogs ( even if you get the puppy brand). When you put the food in your hands you will notice it is very greasy feeling, and that is not good. Good luck!!
