| Kibble question about Wellness Core and Artemis Maximal Does anyone know what the size of these kibbles are? I hate to order and get a large kibble. But I want to try a 6 star food. I am currently feeding Canidae which I have been for about 2 years. But they seem to be having digestive issues lately and their stools seem large. So I think they are digesting the food enough. Anyone have experience with either of these are have other suggestions?

| I have never tried Artemis but the Wellness Core was too big for mine to eat. Have you considered Nature's Variety Instinct? It's a 6 star grain free food that all of mine love, and the kibble was small enough for Tate when he was only 12 weeks & less than 2 pounds.

Also, I should mention that all 3 of the NV Instinct varieties contain Salmon or other fish meal. NV has confirmed that their fish meals do not contain ethoxyquin, in case you've been following that discussion. I feel very comfortable feeding NV to my babies.

| Artemis Maximal has small bites. Artemis small breed has even smaller bites. Once upon a time when I emailed Artemis, they sent me a HUGE box with TONS of samples and all their kibble was small bites. Yes, CORE has fairly large sized pieces and are quite hard to break/bite as well. Snick put one in his mouth and spit it out. I just started with Acana and both Acana and Orijen (both made by champion foods) have larger disk like kibbles. I am cutting them in half with scissors. (No, I am not crazy, well maybe a little Snick only eats a bit of kibble a day so he does not need much. Good Luck...the kibble battle is a hard one!! -Snick & Viv

| Thanks for the input. One more question. I just found Before Grain by Merrick. Does anyone use that or know if it is a "good" quality? The only food we've had GREAT success with so far is Nature's Variety Instinct. He LOVES it. His favorite flavor is Turkey and Duck.

| Cooper eats Taste of the Wild (prefers the Buffalo flavor) and even though it is not small kibble it is more of a flat waifer shape and he has never had any problems with it. This is his absolute FAVORITE food. We do rotate but always come back to this one.

| BG is pretty good. I tried it back in the day and Snick got diarreah from it. I like Merrick as a company but then I heard there was some shenanigans going on so who knows. I did want to tell you that BG has three flavors (chicken, salmon, & buffalo) but they are all chicken based with added meats to creat flavors. That was one part I didn't like about it. Some other good grainfree kibbles I like and recommend are: Instinct by Nature's Variety Orijen Acana Innova Evo by Natura Fromm Surf & Turf For some reason or another I have heard things about all other companies which make me nervous. Either recalls, or being packaged in less than ok conditions, etc. In the end I think what works for your dog is best, but it takes FOREVER to figure that out -Vivian

| Core My I have had 2 of my 5 and a half lb yorkies on Wellness Core, and they had no problem eating it. HOWEVER, I would recommend Acana Provincial over Wellness Core as I have had my dogs on both. |

| Wellness Core is really really crunchy and is a bigger kibble. Max did ok on it but I noticed more eye boogers. I changed him to Orijen and he loves it. The kibble is much smaller and not as crunchy. Orijen is also rated 6 stars.

| Well I think now I have decided not to feed Artemis as that food used that bad preservative in the fish meal. You know the bad E word. LOL don't know what it is . So now between my other two Instinct and EVO. What do you suggest between these two? I was thinking of INstinct but now I am worried about the fish meal thing cause all of their food has some sort of fish meal. But they say they don't use that "E word".
