| Re: Eye stains Hi Everyone My little Yorkie Patti's left eye tears and stains a lot. The right one isn't as bad, but, I am always cleaning under her eyes and just wanted to know if there is something I can do to help her. When I took her to the groomer, the lady told me to keep an eye on her left one especially. I found a message here on the web site that said a little Apple Cider Vinegar in the water would help, but I just want to know and make sure that it is safe for her or if she should be taking any other supplements with her food. Her food is Orijen (Chicken) and sometimes (fish). It is one of the only foods she will eat. She is otherwise very healthy and full of energy, etc. LB |

| Has your vet tested (painless) her eye(s) to make sure she doesn't have dry eye? I am leaning that way because you said one eye is wetter than the other. If she has dry eye that is painful to her and she could lose her eye(s). The medicine is easy to give and is not that expensive but it will be for the rest of her life.

| I've used Angel Eyes with great success on Sophie, but it is a bit on the expensive side. I think I had forgotten how badly she teared since I stopped and she had a lot of tear staining again. |

Right now she is on CILOXN 2X A DAY and I forgot to ask her about the "Apple Cider Vinegar" to help with tear stains, but I am not going to do anything that may harm her. She is my little "Princess" LB

| Buster's eyes tear and he gets bad eye boogers. The vet recommended some OTC eye drops. I took the prescription to CVS and consulted with the pharmacist. He looked at the different eye drops and the CVS brand eye drops had the contents of what was on the prescription. I put two drops in each eye once a day. It really helps his eye boogers. Sometimes he won't let me put the drops in and I wait a couple of days and try again. Worth trying and it's not expensive. |

| Is the " Dry Eye " Yorkies get the same as humans can get, I must get Teddy tested for it, I never knew they can get it, his eyes get quite bad. What does the test involve exactly. Many thanks

| The vet just puts a strip of special paper along the bottom of the lid.

They also look in the eyes with a special light that tells if there are any other problems. It is a good idea to have your "wee" one tested to set your mind at ease. My vet told me Patti had a little infection probably from the weather we are having and all the falling leaves, spores, etc. etc. She gave her drops just to be on the safe side. I mainly wanted to know about eye stains and if there was anything to do about hem. LB

| Our vet suggested the Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar over Angel Eyes because Angel Eyes is a drug. If you give your dog Angel Eyes every day and then some day she gets sick, she might not respond to antibiotics. The ACV we put in her water helps but it does not do away with the problem altogether. I hear if you feed the raw diet it is better. We feed her a dry dog food that is like the dehydrated version of the raw. |

| Other than cosmetics do tear stains hurt anything? He's not goodabout e removing them so an alternative that limits cleaning his muzle and eyes would be great. I thought they were only cosmeic though. |

I will get him checked, his can be quite bad at times, As one of my others had it, (Max) The other one (Levi) Didn't, and seeing so many Yorkies with it, I just thought it was something some of them got. But it is better to check. I wash his face so it doesn't bother him. One eye can be slightly worse than the other one. Thanks for the advice.
