fussy about new food Hi. havea 3 month old Yorkie. I am trying to switch him to a raw diet..with maybe some grainfree canned thrown in. He eats cookecd chicken chuns..canned food..some raw chicken but not much. some hamburger but not much. tuna no problem...canned. he's 5.7 lbs. He is fed 3/4 times a day. I don'treally wnat him to be picky abut different types of foods. He also hasn't tried bone yet..won't try it. How can I enc ourage him Not to be picky..he eats so little that I end up offering canned so he will eat. Because of his size i don't feel at al comfortable fasting him..what should I do? All the rest of my group eats raw no issues. Normally they tae a day o adjust then they're fine. However after reading bout low blood sugar i don't want to run a risk of him not eating enough. Suggestions..please? Thanks.

Have you tried Nature's Variety Raw Medallions? Lots, on here, use them, and it seems that most of the york'sters love it and do well on it...

Ihaven't yet. I am trying Brav the big tubes of premix and Evo canned food he prefers the canned but I'd prefer him on the raw. He 'crashed on me' this morning..I had to give nutrical then he ate somewhat normal..vet sai he's fine tho. Called the breeder and she said he never had an ssue..but of curse she had him on Iams puppy..loads of sugar..and i reallyd on't want to do that. I have "kids" with allergies so that's why the strict raw regime. Any other advice? I'll get some of the n.v. when I get paid nxt. What can I do in the meantime? Oh and is there any notification option on these forums so yu don't have to wade thru 8 pages of postings? I love reading them but don't always have time. I'm constantly worried about hypoglycemia with this guy and never had this issue before. He sleeps and is blah then he eats and he's fine. Ugh!

When I got Nick the breeder gave me this gel stuff to feed him to prevent hypoglycemia. But I can't for the life of me remember what the name of it was. (Helpful, I know.) I have also heard you can give them karo syrup to help prevent it. Try googling it...I did and there is tons of information on the prevention and treatment of hypeglycemia.

| Jackson LOVES Nature's Variety Instinct (Turkey and duck flavor) and he had been picky picky with food. This is the only food he really really loves and eats dry.
