| Neutering Appointment Toby's appointment is tomarrow and i am freaking out...... i feel so abd because tehey told me NO FOOD OR WATER AFTER 6PM THE NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY!!!!....... the reason i feel bad is because he can eat or drink, i take him in tomarrow at 8am, and then i can pick him up at 3pm.... so he doesnt get to eat for almost 24 hours!!!!!! this sounds a little wrong to me...... maybe i will leave some of his food with the vet techs so they can give him some in the crate they put him in when he is out of surgery..... what do you all think??? (i slipped on the rules........ i know hwo fast these guys can go down so i have given him a little nutrical ....... and will probably give him a little more nutrical in the morning) |

| Wow - it's time for neutering already! I remember when he was a new baby! 24 hours does seem a bit extreme without no water and food, I would probably have done the same thing with the nutrical. Good luck to little Toby (and to Mommy ) Let us know how he does, okay?

| I would have done the same thing. It's probably like when people go in for surgery, so he won't get sick. I think. Anyway good luck. Glad he doesn't have to stay allnight. When Smokie had his first treatment he had to stay 4 days. Oh I missed him even know I got to visit. Let us know how it goes. Debbie & Smokie |

| Carter's cut off time for water and food was 9 PM and I had to drop him off between 8 and 8:30. I picked him up that afternoon at 3 PM. When we got home, I put his food and water down for him. He did drink more water than usual during the first 24 hours after his return home. I think it was probably the anesthesia and intubation that was the root cause. Best wishes to you and your sweet baby!

| Will they be giving him a puppy IV during surgery? Bentley had an IV (they call it a cathader (sp?)) during surgery until I picked him up. I believe this helped to keep him at safe levels. |

| When Schatzie had her surgery I also gave her Nutrical in the am and her vet advised me that he would give her some more when she woke from surgery. He said their office makes it common practice to give Nutrical to the little toy dogs before and after surgery. Keep us posted on Toby's progress when you can and Schatzie sends puppy hugs.

| Hope Toby does great today .... I am sure he will! Hope his Mom does too!! Dr. Lucy had us give Toto a little "White Karo" about 6 A.M. on her day of surgery when she had her little baby tooth, that was overlooked, removed. She only had to give her enough anesthesia to make her comfortable, not put her completely under! We were still on "pins & needles"! She did great! We will remember you both in our prayers!! Keep us posted!

| we dropped toby off at the vet at 8 am and went out to breakfast, and then went to petsmart and got toby a new (Bigger) crate and collar, and then we went to see a movie...... toby's neutering went well, he also got microchipped (for free) and we got 6 months advantage flea control (and one month free dose).....hes crying an awful lot, i dont doubt that he is in pain but i think he is "playing it up" more then it really hurts....... he is such a drama king....... the stiches are disolvable so we dont have to go back to get them out...... altogether the cost was $30 for neuter and $60 for 6 months of advantage...... teh chip and one month advantage free...... so...... all that for $90 |

| I'm so glad that Toby is home and doing well! You got a really great bargain for everything you had done. It was $167 for Carter's neutering, $8 per tooth pulled (4), and $30 for his microchip. They cleaned his teeth for free ($46 savings). Puppy kisses to Toby!

| Glad things went ok for your baby. I know what you mean about the 'Drama King' thing. The vet used to tell me that my Bubbles would never cry when he was there, yet as soon as I arrived he would ham it up and started crying, wanting lots of pampering!! He'll be fine now he's home with you. |
