| safe time to neuter Hi all I am going to look at at a male yorkie pup. He six months old.I am wondering when is the best time to neuter him. I have read that if you do it to soon they will grow too big.I am concerned about him peeing around the house to mark territory etc. Also humping problems. Jackson was already a year and a half when I got him and neutered so not sure on when. Thanks |

That's a myth that it will make them larger.

| I agree with the above poster. Do it as soon as possible so he doesn't start marking if he isn't already. As long as he is over 2 lb it is safe |

| Hot Rod was 6 1/2 mos when he went in. He hadn't starting marking yet. Now he only marks outside, never in the house. He was just under 3 lbs when he was neutered and right now he's 4.5 lbs so the myth is not true about them getting bigger. Good luck with your decision.

| Thanks but I ended up not getting the six month old. He was way bigger than Jackson and somewhere around 10 pounds. I didnt want to bring in a dog miles bigger than him. He is only six pounds. I did go and see a puppy 10 weeks old and I got him and he is adorable.I will get him neutered at six months :-) |
