Careless Groomer Hi Everyone... Today Gucci got her first puppy shave, lately her hair has been really bad. I brush it everyday but it gets so knotty and matty. So my friend whom has a yorkie always has her dog shaved. I figured it will grow in better..When my daughter went to pick her up they told her they nicked her neck and to take her to the vet. They will pay the bill. I was soo mad. Make a long story short it is superficial the vet said , and put a glue bandage on it, she said to watch that it doesnt get infected and to treat it 2x a day with some solution.. I will never go back to that groomer. I feel guilty now she looks like a hotdog, still has that beautiful face. Was I wrong in shaving her at this age?, she is 7 mos. From experience do their hair grow back in nice and healthy? I appreciate your feedback Gina

I hope Gucci girl is okay!!! Today Luigi went the groomer also and she took him way too short!! I hate it. But he is only 4 1/2 mos. I can't even put a bow in his hair!!! He looks so funny. But I guess it will grow back!! I am sure Gucci still looks as sweet as can be. How could they not??

grooming As a retired groomer I can tell you accidents happen. Dogs do nto udnerstand they msut be still and a puppy can get very jumpy. I have nicked body parts and I felt just awful...but Yorkies were so forgiving, they still kissed me bye when their mommies came to get them. I would look for a groomer who works from their home. I did not have to groom in volume and could take time with each..when a groomer has a schedule and large numbers to finish in a day, accidents are more previlent. Best wishes

Pat... I do understand accidents can happen, the funny thing is they told my daughter that it was not the puppys fault she stood still. What does that tell me.. Anyway , she is fine, I just hate seeing her with no hair..and now I am sorry I did this to her.. It is still cold outside , I don't know what I was thinking, oh well! I guess it will grow soon. I just feel so bad. Thanks for your encouraging words...))

When gracie was 5 months old, we had to go out of town for 2 weeks , anyway........we had to board her for the time we were away. We took her to a fabulous new place close to Richmond, but since they were brand new, the jaccuzi room and grooming salon had not opened yet She was taken REALLY good care of, but I don't think they brushed her for 2 weeks . She had terrible mats on her under-carriage and I could not get them out. She gets groomed by the number 1 groomer in Richmond, Va (has been in buisness for over 50 years) and they had to shave her belly and give her a short puppy cut It took several months for it to grow back, but her new coat rarely mats if combed or brushed frequently. It is a much better coat (she has a cotton coat which can be a pain)!!!!! Sometimes the groomer has no option.........but I hope this was just an accident, and not neglect in proper grooming. I would be hesitant in returning to that groomer unless this was a fluke.... Don't worry, the fluff will return, maybe prettier and easier to groom. Just keep your baby warm.................puppy kisses from Gracie

Maybe try a heating pad under some bedding.......set on low and fixed under the bedding where she cannot get to it. If she is cold it will feel SOOOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!! And if she is not cold she will go and lay somewhere else... But do keep trying the sweater / t-shirt thing......My chihuahua would wear them for a while but I didn't put one on her for quite a while .....later when I tried to put it on she got VERY UPSET!!!!!! Now she lives under the heating pad on the couch...... Don't worry...all that hair will grow back before you know it!!!!

after archie got groomed, i think he got mad at me. he stayed in his little bed and gave me nasty looks. he was embarrassed at how weird he looked. but maybe if they just cut her hair, it's irritating to wear the sweater. she might itch in the house where it's warm and her hair is prickly.
