Still seeing worms Hello All, I posted a thread the other day regarding Dolce's worm and flea problem. I have gotten some great tips. He has another dose of strongid next week. But he is still passing worms. They are dead but he had some stuck on his bum this afternoon. Does anyone know how long it should take to get completely rid of the worms? Also what blood tests should I have done to check his health. I am beginning to think are breeder is no good. Last edited by DolcesMommy; 09-25-2005 at 05:53 PM.

| Are you sure that they are not tape worms? Strongid will not kill them. If they are the flat ones that look like rice when dried out, then they are tape worms and a very cheap pill from the vet clears them up very quickly. They are caused by fleas.

The worms look like a pinkish white color. More pink though. About the size of a piece of rice. I think I will see how the next few days go. I am thinking about having his stool examined to see what type of worm it is. His 2nd dose is Oct 1st. Should I wait until after that??

I read some posts that the stool sample can't be older that 2 hours. Is that true? I think I will take him in the morning. Thanks all! I will let you know what happens

If it looks like pieces of rice, then it is tapeworms. Tell your vet.

Well I took Dolce back to the Vet today. he gave him a shot for the tapeworms. When he had a bowel movement. he expelled this huge flat worm. I hope it help. My poor baby also has the start of an ear infection. He just cried when the Dr checked his ears. But I got some meds and ear wash for him. I have contacted the breeder because we have had Dolce only a week. We have taken him to the Dr twice at the cost of $167. I have requested a reimbursement. Thank you all for you help and advice. I think the shot really helped.

I wanted to thank everyone for their tips. I feel like a new Mom again. Well Mother's instinct told me to take him back again to see the Dr. My poor baby feels ok. I hope he gets better and doesn't have anyother health problems. He is a sweetie and we have fallen in love with him
