| Hypoglycemia during the night? Hello everyone! I get my puppy today! Finally the long 12 weeks are over and she comes home later today! I just have a question about what to do with her at night. She is 12 weeks old and a tiny girl. I'm not sure how much she weighs right now but at 8 weeks she weighed 1.5 lbs. I would like to put her in a crate in my bedroom at night and get up every 3 or so hours to take her to potty. I'm just worried about her not eating for 8 hours at night. Is this okay? The other option I was considering was putting her in the exercise pen I have for her outside of my bedroom with food and a potty pad. I don't know what to do! Any suggestions would be helpful! Maybe just some Nutrical in the middle of the night possibly? Or would that wind her up too much to sleep? questions questions! Thank you all for your help! |

| I think as long as she's eating regularly throughout the day, she'll be fine! Missy had troubles with hypoglycemia and she didn't need to eat at night. She always slept right through (in my bed beside me). She didn't even have to get up to go pee. If you are going to crate her, I've always liked the idea of an ex-pen better. Then she would have everything accessible to her if she needs it. Congratulations on finally getting your baby girl today. I hope you plan on sharing lots of pics with us! You must be so excited

| Thanks you two for the replies! I guess it would just depend on the dog because those two are very different reactions! One being fine all night and the other with seizures! |

| I think putting her in a crate next to your bed is the way to go. She will sleep better having you next to her and you'll be able ot hear her to wake up when she needs out. Layla has hypoglycemia issues and we just give her a snack of low fat yogurt (not lite) and baby food at night and this hold her over. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I had a little food and water tray that I got at Petsmart that clipped on the side of the crate. Joey didn't eat very much at night, but he did eat some. Some dogs have a harder time regulating their blood sugar, and this is especially true with tinies.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali was only 9 weeks when I got her and she had an episode during the night so I had to feed her every 3-4 hours 24/7. Roxie was 14 weeks and bigger and she did fine with no food during the night. I do feed mine a tiny meal at 10 pm and they eat breakfast at 5am. Your baby should do ok since she is 12 weeks just keep an eye on her the first couple of nights.

| Mine has food in her dish 24/7 and she eats when needed and i think that works fine for me. She doesnt over eat or anything. She is 5 pounds and eats the recommended doze that is written on her dog food bag. Good luck and congrats on your new baby
