| When I got Buddy my vet said every other week so I wouldn't wash away his natural oils in his coat. Since you stated he is an indoor pup with daily walks, like Buddy, every other week works for us. I do wipe his feet and private off with a wet paper towel each time we come back from a walk. Once a month I would think is not enough. Use a good shampoo and conditioner and you should be set to go. Good luck with your baby. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | a lot of us here wash our dogs every week. I am one of them. I take morgan in teh shower with me every weekend. As long as you make sure you get out all the shampoo and conditioner then its ok to bath them. Also conditioning their coats helps to retain the moisture and prevent damage.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I bathe them once a week right now. If your dog has allergies at all, they should be bathed at least once a week to keep allergens off of their skin. Otherwise, less often is okay too.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I LOVE BuddyWash. You can buy it at Whole Foods. They also sell a GREAT conditioning spray. I only wash Thor every 2-4 weeks. I believe it is better for his skin. I do wash his hiney if some poop gets stuck on it, but we've gotten pretty good at just targeting that area. He knows to stand with his butt in the water and his front paws on the edge of the sink. I do run a wet comb through his beard whenever it seems to be getting narsty - I brush his teeth every night, and toothpaste gets stuck in it, which then sticks to everything else. Thor does not smell (at least, I don't think so!) but there are a lot of good sprays you can use in between washes.

| i've been doing it about once a week so far, but i've only had her about two weeks, maybe i shouldn't do it so much, but i think it's fun and it bonds us, i only use shampoo, oatmeal shampoo so far, and i use puppy wipes on her when she comes in from outside especially when she's went #2 or her feet are a little muddy/grassy. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Thor doesn't mind going in the shower with me, but keep in mind they need their own doggy shampoo and conditioner. The ph on human stuff is not right for them, or so I have heard.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How do you shower w/ him...do you hold him the whole time? For some reason, I think my boys would freak out at first...but maybe not...

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i turn the shower on, wait for a good water temp, then pick morgan up and put her in. she stays at the far end of the shower even tho i keep trying to convince her that the drain area doesn't have water dripping on her head the entire time. Morgan just stands there. Never complained about it. If i go in and leave her outside she'll stand up outside the door and ask to come in. when we first get in i wet her down then lather her up with her shampoo really well. then i get myself wet. i go back to her, since the shampoo off and then shampoo her again and leave it on while i shampoo my hair. Next i rinse off her shampoo and apply the conditioner. I leave the conditioner on the rest of the time until i'm finished, then i rinse off the rest of her conditioner. all done! i give her a new towel and she likes to go crazy and rub all over it. i get out, dry off, get dressed, brush my hair, etc...then i sit down on the floor to dry "my" hair. that's when she comes running for me to blow dry her hair instead. she loves the blow dryer, high and fast! goes crazy. i think i have a video of it somewhere on here too. anyway that's how we shower on the weekend.
