Nutritionist I know several people have mentioned using nutritionists (online and by phone) to home cook for their babies. Can someone please recommend who they have used and have been happy with. Thanks!

She's not- but she works out of a vet office and you can get a consult with her and a vet if you want.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Lol, I'm aware of that, but they usually get their degrees at the same places, and specialize in one or two species. Much of basic nutrition is the same, but the diet you choose for a particular species would be different.

I can attest to the fact that my Sissy was diagnosed in November of 2008 with early stage Protein Losing Enteropathy. First, this disease is rarely diagnosed until end stages. Secondly, the changes suggested to her diet in combination with supplements began normalizing her blood test results in as little as 4 months. Sissy is a completely different dog these days. Keep in mind that PLE is generally a diagnosis of death quickly to come and according to information is not curable, only manageable. Yet, we are showing "cure" results without any standard meds (steroids are the recommended course of treatment in most cases). I fully credit Susan with the health of Sissy today. Certifications are always only as good as the education and continuing education of the person holding them as well as their ability to translate their knowledge into something real. This is true for ANY profession.

I appreciate everyone's help and advice. I have one baby with a liver shunt that has been repaired by Dr. Tobias and another that thinks he is supposed to take the place of my vacume cleaner and eats EVERYTHING that he is not supposed to. My vet suggested that he was not getting a "well balanced" diet...thus his eating what he is not supposed to eat. I think it may just be a Yorkie trait from what I have read and hear, but I'm willing to try a special diet formulated just for him if that might help. We spent last night at the Emergency Vet once again having xrays done to make sure he wasn't obstructed AGAIN...once again, it was just a small, dead leaf that he had eaten and the stem and veins had irritated and possibly scratched his little intestines and caused some blood in his stools. Oh these babies......

My liver baby is on a very special, low protein diet. Her BAT came back better, but not quite normal yet. Hopefully the next time we retest her in September, it will be normal (fingers crossed). If not, we will treat her on a MVD diet from them on. It's my little male that eats everything he is not supposed to...so far, he has been able to get rid of it all and no obstruction, but the vet suggested a better balanced diet. I am willing to try anything....He sleeps with us at night and the other night he had opened a seam on his bed and was nibbling at the stuffing inside...I caught him at 4 am and thought I caught him in time - I was wrong. He threw it up 2 days later! I'm just afraid one of these days we won't be so lucky....He is 15 months old - I hope he will outgrow it, too.
