| Healthy wet food suggestions? How much safflower oil? I posted a topic the other day about Tobie being diagnosed with Legg-Perthes Disease and him being on glucosamine pills. Well, I was having a hard time getting him to take the pills because apparently he doesn't like the taste of them. I tried wrapping it in bread... didn't work. I tried crushing it and putting it on his kibble... wouldn't touch it. I called the vet and they suggested crushing it and mixing it with a little wet dog food but to get adult dog food because the last thing he needs is to gain any extra weight. This actually worked really good. Is there a good healthy wet food that I can get him? I would also like to be able to mix a tiny bit with his dry food to give him some variety. My other question.... I bought some safflower oil to put on his food to help with his coat. How much should I put on there? I am definitely even more concerned about monitoring his diet and making sure he gets healthy food because like the vet said, any extra weight isn't good for his situation. Thanks for your help!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I know Innova, Wellness and Merricks are good foods. I am not sure about how much oil to put on but hopefully others will be able to help you.

| I'm curious as to why safflower oil? Grizzly salmon and coconut oil are the only ones I've heard recommended. We have been using coconut oil (extra virgin, organic) for about 6 months now and the results have been fabulous. I melt about 1/4 tsp for each girl and they will lap it up just as if need be, though I do mix it with their food. In addition to being great for the coat and skin, it has many immune system health properties to it that other oils don't.

| I buy my coconut oil at the health food store. Before we started on this and were using Grizzly Salmon Oil, I always ordered it from a vendor here.....
