| Made her food tonight! I'm so excited, my auntie Karrie taught me how to make the Raw recipe she uses and it was really easy and fun, and she got me and Sadie a present which consisted of lots of little presents for my new baby. I was sooo excited to show hubby all the new things for our baby and he's already talking about her halloween costumes and Christmas cards with her in them. I cannot wait to have the baby here and love on her lots!! Posted more pictures in my album to check out!! |

| How fun! Hon, if you put half the energy into loving and caring for Sadie that you've put into her so far, you'll be one heck of a yorkie-mom. edited to add: your profile page is still missing a lot, including links to your album. Hmm, I've never seen that before. So, where are the pics???

| That is odd. I see where it says you what one album with 11 pictures, but when I click on it I get a message saying it's an invalid album. Weird.

| Raw recipe from Aunt Karrie Quote:
I usually double the batch: 1/2 lb lean ground beef (80% or leaner) 2 can sardines (or canned salmon of the same weight) 1 cup cooked rice 1/2 c. veg of choice (spinach, carrots, etc.) 2 large eggs (slightly cooked) 3/4 tablespoon bone meal 1/2 teaspoon potassium 1 tablespoon safflower oil = 1569 calories I find the sardines rather smelly - so I substitute 4 oz of cottage cheese or ground turkey (I usually do both!). My hubby hunts, so I sometimes replace the hamburger with deerburger. Do not substitute ground pork. Since I removed the sardines (a very important ingredient), then I squeeze a fish oil caplet every other day over her breakfast. I also add 1/3 childrens multivitamin daily (the ones without artificial sweetener). Feel free to add 1 oz of liver to the batch - its good for them. All human grade products. I get the bone meal and potassium from iherb.com. I first made a batch without all the supplements - just to see if Bailey liked it. SHE LOVED IT - so its been this recipe ever since! I serve one spoonful per serving (the larger spoons) twice a day. It doesnt seem like much - I know. I store it in 10 oz plastic containers about 3/4 full in the freezer- one container lasts about 3 days. Tip: I put the raw eggs in the hot rice and let it sit a while (hence partially cooked eggs) Good luck!!! Let me know if you need anything!

| more pics Marvin and Sadie... He loves that girl!! I have a feeling when he calls tonight to talk about how she's doing that he might be telling me that he's waiting another week before giving her to me...which is fine, cause he knows what's best for her!! |

also for a grown doggie, 1 yr. ++ she feeds a spoonful twice a day. also the fish oil thing you just get them 1000mg and pin prick them 3-4 times a week and pour over her food...and the multivitamin is a children's with no artificial sweeteners 1/4 a couple times a week i think also, Karrie adds 4 oz. cottage cheese to each batch for the heck of it!! she calls it a freebie for Bailey. Good luck!! hope it works good for you Last edited by RachelandSadie; 07-29-2009 at 06:30 AM. Reason: added.

| Update on extra vitamins and stuff for Raw diet Got this email from aunt Karrie last night: Anyhow, the recipe recommends one fish oil caplet and 1/4 children's vitamin once daily (without "artificial" sweetener - to be exact) I usually give it 3-4 times a week (yorkies are so small that I don't want to overload 'em) I add cottage cheese every time - 4 oz per batch. Today, I added 8 oz to your batch due to double batch. Yogurt is a treat. Bailey wasn't not fond of yogurt so I didn't give it much. I'm sure she'd gobble it now. She's a little piggy. You can add 1 oz liver per batch anytime. Its good for them. However, its hard to mix in. When I add liver, I put it in the blender with a little water, then mix in the batch. Don't add too much liver - one oz per batch is plenty and I do it every -other time I make it up. |

| Oh, she's a widdle cutie pie! I love her big sweet eyes! She does look like a Sadie, too. The recipe looks pretty easy, I might have to try it out.

| go for it! Quote:
Go for it, i couldn't believe how easy it was, i always wanted to feed my pup good "human" food, but i thought it would mean cooking it everyday for her, when i realized you could make it all up in huge amounts and freeze it in those small containers, and that pups only eat a teaspoon 3 times a day up to a year and then a table sized spoon 2 x a day, i was like wow this will last for a long time on one large double or triple batch....so i'm totally all for it now, my freezer isn't even that full cause they are so small the little containers she got for me... i can't wait to see how Sadie will take to eating it... OH ONE MORE THING: when you feed them, obviously unthaw it in the fridge the day before, and then put it in a little microwave/dishwasher safe bowl such as a condiment bowl, and pop it in the microwave for 6-8 seconds just to take the chill off for them...don't cook it though
