| Yorkie Health I have looked around here. I thought I would share some info to new yorkshire terrier owners. First to me they are a great breed. However they do have some health issues that might be passed down the family tree (as we all do for ex. myself I have kidney disease PKD). All animals have own things going on. Here is some known health issues to the yorkies: bladder stones, campylobacteriosis, coccidiosis, collapsing trachea, cushing's disease, giardiasis, hge, hypoglycemia ( my vet says when they get sluggish a little corn syrup will do the trick, we use a teaspoon once or twice a day as needed of van. yogurt and cottage cheese ;this also helps them use the restroom easier), leptospirosis, liver shunt, pancreatitis, parvovirus, patella luxation, pda, protein-losing enteropathy, reverse sneezing ( we found that if you use a harness for walks instead of collars this helps some: however please make sure your pet always has id on them). you can go to www.yorkieviews.com/healthfacts.htm for more info on the stuff listed above. I sure hope this helps some one out there with any questions. If I mis-spelled sorry but typed fast! God Bless! |
