| Will barely eat now! I posted this in General, maybe I should have posted here.. So a very nice and lovely YT'er sent me some samples of dog food because she, as well as myself, had trouble finding something healthy that her puppy would like. Well one of the samples was Taste of the Wild Prarie. My furbaby loved it. Now I can't get her to eat anything else. She turns her nose up at her old food ( royal canin ). She nibbled on a little bit of rice mixed with chicken noodle dinner baby food. I am worried because I have to board her at a kennel on the first of july until the 5th or 6th because we are going on vacation. I know they won't cook fresh food for her. If she gets hungry enough will she eat her old kibble? I ordered a 30 lbs. bag of the Taste of the Wild Prarie, now I am just waiting for it to get to good ol'e Japan In the mean time I am making her eat a pea sized amount of nutri-cal in the AM and another dose in the PM. She does not like the Nuri-cal. Does anyone else have to force feed the nutri-cal? I rub in on her gums and scrape the excess off in her mouth LoL She hates me for it but I don't want her going hypoglycemic on me!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | bad timing that your going way in the next week. my advice would be to just give her her old food and nothing else. she's just holding out now because you gave her something new and "better". she will eat her old food. Leave it there and when she's hungry she'll eat it. is she really small? has she had a hypo episode before? is she a young puppy? if the answers are no, then you do not need to give nutri-cal. she will eat once she realizes you do not have any more of the "good stuff"

| Can you homecook enough food in advance to last the day's you are on vacation? Maybe could freeze in little containers. Hopefully the dog food you ordered will arrive before you leave.....Bella loves Nutri Cal and we just put it on our finger and she licks it off. Hopefully someone will post who maybe could give some good ideas.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | at that age and size you shouldn't have to worry about it. my yorkie was smaller at that age and never had a hypo episode. she has access to her food all day long and self regulates. sometimes she eats twice a day, sometimes she eats once a day, sometimes she doesn't eat at all. i don't worry about it. she eats when she's hungry. she's is 3 years old and 4.5lbs now and has probably done this since she was 8 months old and 3.5lbs.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | its true that the little ones are more prone to it however yours is 11 months old and has never had a problem. in your case i wouldn't worry about it. She like she's the same size as mine was and we never had a problem. I'd just see how it goes, i bet you she will eat when she's hungry and realizes nothing else is coming.
