| Hi there and welcome to YorkieTalk. You're gonna love it here. On which medications are Monster Linus? I like Eco-Cough for Kennel Cough and you simply add a few drops to their drinking water. It is also a homeopathic remedy, so it isn't too harsh on their systems. How long has he been on the meds? It should only take a few days for the cough to clear up. Good luck to your little guy!

| An upper respiratory infection usually clears up in about a week. The medicines the vet put your pup on are 1) an antibiotic to clear the infection and 2) a cough suppressant so that further damage is not done to the mucus membranes which would prolong the coughing symptoms. Until he is back to normal, avoid using a collar and switch to a harness that doesn't push against his trachea--Yorkies should be on harnesses anyways. Restricting activity until he is fully recovered is a good idea too. Congrats on your new puppy and welcome to YT! Ps. When your pup goes in for vaccinations make sure they do the actual Bordetella vaccine, not the nasal injection. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Sometimes the cough can hang around a long time. Using a warm mist vaporizer with vick's helps a great deal or if you don't own one of those...take him into a steam filled bathroom. A teaspoon of honey helps soothe an irritated throat too
