| Chubby Yorkie? Hi there! Ninapants, my 3.5 year old yorkie, is a little overweight I love her to death and try to feed her all the right things, we walk every day for 45 minutes, sometimes more! But I'm sure I probably give her too many treats. It's so hard! I love to praise her for being such a good little girl! But this week it's business--we are on a diet plan! She has to lose some weight because she has luxating patella and I have noticed it a little more these days. I want the best for my baby and I want her to be happy and healthy SO I am carefully regulating exactly how much she eats and only feeding her low fat snacks: apples, carrots, broccoli. I am wondering what everyone else gives their dogs?! Can Nina still eat egg whites? How about bluberries or melon? All of course in moderation. I know dogs can't eat grapes/potato/onion and chocolate of course. Any ideas? I would love to find out from all of you yorkie experts!

| I give my girls frozen peas, whereas Chelsea is a little over weight too. I do put blueberries in their homemade food, but they won't eat berries by themselves or melon. Broccoli is to hard on their system, gives them gas will give them fresh beans once and a while the gas isn't so bad. They do like carrots but have to be boiled or roasted. Also I will cook chicken breast or a little salmon and give that as a treat. Low fat for treat is buffalo if that is easy to come by. I boil all their meat skim the fat off and re boil add apple cider vinegar then freeze in ice cube trays. One of the threads has a recipe for chicken jerky that you dry in the oven of 5 hours like beef jerky.
