| Any Good Products For Tarter? At Brody's check-up yesterday the vet said he was getting some tarter on his back teeth and gave me some samples of doggie toothpaste and a finger brush . . .he explained to me how to go about doing it . . .Soooo, I TRIED to follow his advice and get a smidgen of the doggie paste on Brody's gums in the back and rub it with my finger . . .HA! He clamped down and wouldn't even let me try . . .I then did the same with Rhianna and she didn't care one bit . . .I was even able to use the finger brush on her . . .but she's not the one with the tarter . . . I bought this liquid from PETCO called Dental Fresh a while back and have been using it (not daily as I should) in their water dish . . .apparently Brody still needs a bit more help in that area . . . Any recommendations for how to go about cleaning his teeth? He's only 2 1/2 and I would love to prevent him from having to get his teeth surgically cleaned . . .

| I'd like more tips in this area too. He wouldn't drink the water when I added that product. Even though it's supposed to be odorless and tasteless, he could detect it. I am using ProDen PlaqueOff, a powder that is added to food but see some of the back teeth have plaque and Johnny's barely 2 years old! His front teeth are nice and clean, though. I don't have much luck using toothpaste on a doggie toothbrush or finger-brush cause he does the same thing as Brody. Nylabones are supposed to help but he doesn't chew very much.

| He's not much of a chewer either . . .we have the nylabones and even the dingo bones . . .but he just likes to walk around with them and pretend bury them . . . Rhianna is the chewer . . .she loves her nylabone and dingo's . . . I also think they detect the Dental Fresh, but they do drink their water . . there is a slight smell to it because even I can smell it . . .

| Plaque Off worked wonders with my dogs--you mix it in there food once a day. Takes very little. Within a few weeks my dogs yellow back teeth were white and you could see the plaque wear off. Quite amazing!

| Bristser, I agree, I seen the results of Petzlife, it's pretty amazing. You can also look into Plaque Zappers by Ark Naturals. You add it to the water. |

| I've used the stuff in the water, the cheese sprinkle on their food and Petzlife but I just took both of my kids in a couple of weeks ago and while their teeth were really good - my vet still recommended that Mia have her teeth cleaned by them, that I go back to using CET petpaste, and a protective gel called OraVet (weekly). She said there is nothing that works like plain old brushing. Oh, mine also chew on Merrick Flossies. Their back teeth were great. The more you do it - the better they get at it. Even if it's not every night - try every other.

| In addition to the Petzlife already mentioned, CET chews are great to remove tartar. CET Chews Petite for Small Dogs (30 chews) |

| dentist recommended at least 3-4 times a week but best to do daily - i like gauze or wipes over brushes as you can damage the gums and you always do in a circular motion to get up under the gum line |
