| I would think there is too much garlic in human pills and would never consider giving it to my dog. Not even in small quanities. What's wrong with a flea repellant? I, personally, would never not think of giving it to my dog. |

| Wow, what next? LOL I don't think I would use something like this, honestly. The old method works for us just fine. Do you think it would make them have garlic breath? I worked with a women who ate garlic pills and she stunk so bad I avoided her most of the time so I did not have to have a conversation with her. Really! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I tried giving Lulu small amounts of crushed garlic with her food daily to help with the fleas. She liked it a lot, and didn't have too much of a garlic breath. She didn't have any negative reactions to it either. I read in several places, including "Puppies for Dummies" (which is a great book on puppy housebreaking, and I warmly recommend it) about giving garlic as a supplement to fight fleas. However, other resources say garlic, as well as onions are harmful for dogs. Eventually I became too lazy and started giving Lulu a regular flea + tick medication. However, I still put a few drops of Lavender and Eucalyptus essential oils on her collar and in her detangling spray to keep the fleas away.

| If I were having flea problems I would do some research myself before ruling it out before I would go to something like Frontline. I am by no means an expert on it since we have been lucky with the fleas staying away but I know Dr. Pitcairn recommends it. I asked my vet about it once because it is in so many babyfoods and I was giving a little babyfood here and there. He told me that it is a very rare dog that would have any problems in low dosage. Here is another article on it: Many postive testimonials about how garlic is okay to feed your dog in low doses.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't know much about garlic for fleas, and efficacy. I moved this thread from General to Health for you. Please post threads in the forums they correspond to. Thanks!

| It really depends on the dose but I just don't like to play around with it when it is questionable. There are better methods out there...

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | You should always check with your vet to see what is a safe dose of garlic for your dogs weight/size. Some home made dog treats contain garlic powder. I have a book that tells you how to make treats to get rid of fleas. It contains garlic powder, but I have never tried it.

| I don't know much about the garlic pill she gave, like size or any of that, it was years ago, but, she swore by them. The dog lived to be around 15 years, of course, it was a bigger dog. I haven't tried garlic pills, but, I am going to start doing a lot of research, as I would rather give mine a little garlic, if it works, than to have them on this flea medicine. I don't think all these chemicals we're putting on them is any better than the garlic to be honest with you. |
