| Cheese? I have had a couple of neighbors tell me that they used tiny pieces of cheese as treats to train their puppies. Any thoughts YT moms? Would cheese be to fattening for a yorkie? I am sure they would love it, but would it upset their stomach? What are you using as training treats?

| I used tiny pieces of liverwurst to train Buddy outdoors. This suggestion came from my daughter's trainer for her MinPin. It worked like a charm. Only give this special treat for training to potty, never any other time. I use 2% cheese for Buddy. He eats it once a week. I stuff 3/4 piece in a bone on Fri nights while I eat Pizza. He's not heard from for about 1/2 hr. |

| Sophie has a few bits almost everyday. We are big cheese eaters at our house and pretty much if you don't share a bit with her she'll tackle you. Honest! |

| String cheese is ok, it's pretty low fat. Give tiny bits like the size of a pencil eraser. Don't give too much at once. Too much and they'll get soft poop. Use only for training hard stuff.

| Lucas loooooves cheese. I only let him have little tiny bits though. Don't want him to get a tummy ache.

| A small amount of cheese is okay for most dogs occasionally but there are better treats out there to give. How about cheerios, green beans, white meat chicken pieces, banana?

| Thank you all for your advice I tried some little training treats that the Petsmart puppy trainer sold me, but they gave him loose stools and he didn't seem too wild about them..left some on the floor uneaten. I am just very concerned about giving him anything on a regular basis, like when training, that might make him overweight,(a problem which I feel took at least a year off the life of my last yorkie.)

| Snickers get 2% string cheese about twice a week after grooming (teeth brushing, trimming, nails, eye eash etc.) It's the only way he will hold still is if I say "cheese" throughout the process. He just loves it.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I try to stick with boiled chicken but when desperate cheese is an alternative....I actually gave them tiny pieces of linguisa pizza today....have to cook more chicken and the pizza was so handy....I don't do it very much....

| That is how my dogs are too. They can smell that cheese no matter where you bury it in your sandwich and will patiently sit and stare me down, until I give them each a nibble. I make sure not to give too much as it can constipate. I don't worry about it being fattening because mine are all fairly lean.

| Cheerios are a huge hit at our house! And easy because they dont dry out and they are easy to break into pieces
