| Not sure which provides the best overall nutrition, but if the dog doesn't eat it, it provides NO nutrition. Our new puppy was on Royal Canin also, but then stopped eating it. We tried some sample packs of other puppy foods but she would only eat what the other (adult) dogs were eating. We finally put them all on Nature's Variety Prairie Chicken & Brown Rice formula and they are doing fine. It's formulated for all life stages and was recommened to me by someone that I feel is very knowledgeable about dog food and nutrition (she actually recommended either Innova regular formula or the Nature's Variety Prairie). So far so good, and the puppy loves it. There will be many different opinions and suggestions, but I would suggest using what the puppy/dog will actually eat. |

YT 3000 Club Member | The dry would be better because it has more protein in it especially when they are pups and they say the dry is better for their teeth, alot of different opinions on that. The wet helps when they are picky or are older and have lost alot of teeth. Chester gets wet on his dry with his salmon oil on it. The wet food is also alot of water about 78% moisture in it, alittle as a treat is not a bad thing though |

| Wet and dry food can be the exact same nutritionally. The very low fat and protein content of canned food hasn't been converted to a dry matter basis, so you can't go by what the label says. Canned foods actually tend to be higher in fat and protein but it just doesn't look like it because the moisture isn't mathematically removed. You do have to feed a lot of volume if you feed canned though because it is mostly moisture...

| Hi! My name is Tiffany and I'm a rep from Nature's Variety. To answer your question, dogs can actually benefit greatly from eating a variety of forms of food. A rotation diet between forms can help vary the micro-nutrient intake your puppy gets and can reduce the risk of food allergies and intolerances for certain kinds of foods. Dry kibble, wet canned, and raw frozen are three of the most popular forms of dog food. You might want to try mixing it up between the three. Hope this helps! |
